Suggs failed a physical with the New York Jets on Tuesday after being traded by the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Derrick Strait on Monday. "We have a whole series of tests that we do, and we were very thorough with the process," Jets coach Eric Mangini said. "He just didn't pass those tests. ... Each team has a criteria they set up that they believe is what's important and what's needed to be competitive. I'm very comfortable with the tests we have set up."
8/14/2006
Lee Suggs, cle
The New York Jets acquired Suggs Monday in a trade with the Cleveland Browns for defensive back Derrick Strait. Suggs is coming off three injury plagued seasons with the Browns who selected him in the 2003 NFL draft. Shoulder, neck, toe, ankle and thumb injuries had sidelined him for several games in each of his first three pro seasons. He had 1,048 career rushing yards and four touchdowns in 25 games with the Browns.
8/11/2006
Bob Hallen, cle
Hallen, who was being counted on by the Cleveland Browns to replace the injured LeCharles Bentley at center, informed the club Friday that he has retired. 7/27/2006
LeCharles Bentley, cle
Bentley suffered a season-ending injury to his left knee on Thursday and will undergo surgery as early as Friday. The Browns two-time Pro Bowl center tore his patellar tendon on the first 11-on-11 drill of training camp Thursday. "He was the face of our free-agent class," Cleveland general manager Phil Savage said. "We feel terrible for LeCharles, but life goes on."
7/22/2006
Kamerion Wimbley, cle
Wimbley, the 13th overall draft pick, signed a six-year, $23.7 million deal with the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. Wimbley's agent Joe Linta said the deal includes $9.3 million in guaranteed money and is a 9.5 percent increase over what the 13th pick received last year. "It shows the fans and the team I'm ready to be a Brown," Wimbley said.

Winslow returned to the football field for the first time in almost two years Friday. The Cleveland Browns tight end had been out since a May 1, 2005 motorcycle accident ended his 2005 pro season before it began. McGinest signed a three-year contract worth $12 million with the Cleveland Browns, which reunites him with head coach Romeo Crennel. The 12-year veteran won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, where Crennel spent four years as the defensive coordinator. 12/27/2005
Steve Heiden, cle
Heiden was in the Browns' lineup for Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was unable to return after aggravating the ankle problem he's been battling for several weeks. The ailment is severe enough to force him to miss this weekend's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, promting the team to place him on injured reserve. Aaron Shea will take over as Cleveland's starter.
Charlie Frye, cle
Frye reported feeling fine when he showed up at the Browns' practice facilities on Monday, and he plans to be under center when the team takes the field against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. The rookie quarterback, who was sacked eight times in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, suffered a concussion when he took a hit in the fourth quarter, but was able to remain in the lineup and finish the game.
12/22/2005

Reuben Droughns, cle
The strained knee that limited Droughn's practice time last week did not prevent him from handling the bulk of the Browns' rushing load in a loss to the Bengals, as he finished with 74 yards on 21 carries. The running back is feeling even better this week, making it through Wednesday's full workout without any problems. Brown is listed as probable on the injury report, and the Browns fully expect him to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Raiders.
Andra Davis, cle
Davis has re-signed with the Cleveland Browns, agreeing to a five-year contract extension. The linebacker, who inked a one-year deal prior to the start of this season, now is locked up through the 2010 campaign. He was a fifth-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft.
Charlie Frye, cle
Frye was able to shake off the minor knee injury he suffered last weekend, and he took the majority of the snaps with the Browns' first-team offense at Wednesday's practice. Barring any last-minute setbacks, the rookie quarterback, who as a third-round pick in this year's draft, will be under center when the team takes the field against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
12/14/2005
Joe Jurevicius, cle
Sidelined since Week 4, Darrell Jackson is slated to return to the Seahawks' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Mike Holmgren. 12/7/2005
Ethan Kelley, cle
Kelley has decided to undergo surgery to repair the cartilage damage in his left knee. As a result, the nose tackle, who suffered the injury at Minnesota on Nov. 27, will be placed on injured reserve by the Cleveland Browns, ending his 2005 campaign. J'Vonne Parker was promoted from the practice squad to fill the void on the roster.
Charlie Frye, cle
According to Browns head coach Romeo Crennel, Frye will be under center when the team takes the field against the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sunday, making his second consecutive start. A torn knee ligament limited Hunter to just three games in 2004.
12/5/2005

Droughns tied a season high with 30 carries in Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, finishing the contest with 88 yards on the ground. Braylon Edwards, cle
Tests on Edwards' right knee have revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and the receiver will be forced to undergo surgery in the near future, ending his 2005 campaign. 12/2/2005
Joe Jurevicius, cle
Jurevicius attended the Seahawks' practice on Thursday, but he did not take part in the team's workouts, due to illness. Charlie Frye, cle
With Trent Dilfer unable to practice because of a knee injury, Frye took all the snaps with the Browns' first-team offense on Wednesday. The rookie quarterback, who was a third-round pick in this year's draft, would get his first career start in Sunday's meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars if Dilfer can't take the field. A final decision likely won't be made until Friday at the earliest.
11/29/2005
Ken Dorsey, cle
Dorsey will drop down to No. 2 on the 49ers' depth chart, as the team will hand the starting quarterback job back to No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, Alex Smith. The Seahawks' receiver took full advantage of the opportunity, finishing the overtime victory with eight catches for a career-high tying 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Ryan Pontbriand, cle

11/21/2005

Ken Dorsey, cle
After being limited for the last couple of weeks by a sprained ankle, Dorsey will be back under center when the San Francisco 49ers take the field against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. With regular starter Alex Smith still recovering from a knee injury and Cody Pickett struggling in the top role, the team has decided to give Dorsey the nod for the second time this season.
11/10/2005
William Green, cle
Green continues to be sidelined by a sprained ankle, and he is expected to miss his second consecutive game. The Browns have listed the running back as doubtful for Sunday's tussle with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In seven games this season, Green has 78 yards on 20 carries and five catches for 30 yards.
Lee Suggs, cle
Suggs returned to practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, but he has yet to be cleared for game action, as head coach Romeo Crennel would like to see him get back more strength in his hand. It's likely that he will be a game-time decision.
Ken Dorsey, cle

With regular starter Alex Smith expected to miss his third consecutive game with a strained knee, Cody Pickett will get the nod this weekend.
11/7/2005
Reuben Droughns, cle
Playing through painful leg cramps caused by dehydration, Droughns had his best game of the 2005 campaign in Sunday's 20-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Browns' running back rushed for a season-high 116 yards on 20 carries and added four receptions for 73 yards, including a crucial 51-yard gain on a third-down play late in the contest.
11/4/2005

11/3/2005
Ken Dorsey, cle
Dorsey won't be in the 49ers' starting lineup this weekend, but his sprained ankle has shown enough improvement over the past couple of days that he is optimistic that he'll be available for backup duty, if needed. With regular starter Alex Smith out with a knee injury, Cody Pickett is scheduled to get the nod on Sunday.
Jason Wright, cle
As anticipated, the Cleveland Browns have promoted Wright from their practice squad for Sunday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans. The running back will serve as the primary backup to starter Reuben Droughns, as William Green (ankle) is doubtful and Lee Suggs (thumb) is still at least a week away from a return.
Braylon Edwards, cle
Edwards has recovered from the infection in his elbow, and he continues to progress in the Browns' system. As a result, the rookie receiver, who was the third overall pick in this year's draft, will become more involved in the offensive attack going forward, according to head coach Romeo Crennel. Antonio Bryant will remain as the top option in the passing game, while Edwards and Dennis Northcutt will split time at No. 2.
11/2/2005

Droughns was arrested and charged with speeding and operating under the influence after being pulled over near Cleveland early Tuesday morning. The Browns' running back later was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
William Green, cle
Green was unable to practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, and he shows up as doubtful on this week's injury report. Nursing a sprained ankle, the running back's foot remains in a protective boot, and barring a miraculous recovery, it does not appear that he will be available for Sunday's battle with the Tennessee Titans.
10/31/2005
William Green, cle
Green underwent precautionary X-rays following Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans, and the tests revealed no major damage. Serving as Reuben Droughns' primary backup, Green finished the game with 48 yards on 10 carries.
Ken Dorsey, cle
Dorsey, getting the starting nod in place of the injured Alex Smith, was unable to return to the 49ers' lineup after spraining his left ankle in the second half of Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback was on crutches after the game and is considered doubtful for next weekend's matchup with the New York Giants, according to head coach Mike Nolan.
10/27/2005
Ken Dorsey, cle
According to 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, Dorsey will get the nod in Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as regular starter Alex Smith continues to be sidelined with a sprained and swollen right knee. A seventh-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, Dorsey has yet to play this season. Last year, he appeared in nine contests, going 123 of 226 for 1,231 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions.
10/26/2005
Brandon Rideau, cle
The Cleveland Browns have promoted Rideau from their practice squad, filling the void created when cornerback Gary Baxter was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday. The rookie receiver had seven catches for 84 yards in the preseason, but did not make the regular-season roster out of camp.
10/24/2005
Joe Jurevicius, cle
Jurevicius was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys after landing on his arm while making a catch in the fourth quarter. The receiver, who was unable to return to the Seahawks' lineup, has been diagnosed with a pinched nerve in his neck, but the injury is not considered serious. He has been listed as day-to-day.
Reuben Droughns, cle
Droughns recorded his first 100-yard outing of the 2005 campaign, hitting the century mark on the nose on 19 carries in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. The running back logged all but three of the Browns' rushes in the game.
Gary Baxter, cle
Tests have revealed that Baxter has a torn pectoral muscle, an injury suffered early in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. The cornerback underwent surgery on Monday, and he will be placed on injured reserve, officially ending his 2005 campaign. In five games this season, Baxter notched 23 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

10/19/2005

Edwards participated in the Browns' workout today, and may be able to return to the active squad much sooner than originally anticipated. He is listed as doubtful for this Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
10/17/2005
Michael Jameson, cle
The Cleveland Browns have terminated Jameson's contract after the safety missed the first four games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. A sixth-round draft pick in 2001, Jameson played in all 16 games for the Browns last year.
10/12/2005
Braylon Edwards, cle
Edwards has been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove some infection from his right elbow over the weekend. According to his father, the Browns' rookie receiver could be sidelined 4-6 weeks, but he hopes to be back on the field sooner than that. Edwards already has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, and his status currently is listed as week-to-week.
10/11/2005
Lee Suggs, cle
Suggs underwent surgery to insert two screws in his right thumb, broken in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. He is expected to be out of action up to four weeks. This is just the latest in a string of injuries Suggs has suffered in his pro career. He missed the first two games this year with a sprained ankle, in addition to six games last year, and nine in 2003.
10/10/2005
Joe Jurevicius, cle
With Darrell Jackson and Bobby Engram sidelined with injuries, the Seahawks turned to Jurevicius to fill one of the voids in the starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the St. Louis Rams. The veteran receiver took advantage of the opportunity, hauling in a career-high nine passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.
Braylon Edwards, cle
Not only did Edwards undergo surgery to remove some infection in his right elbow on Saturday, but he remains the hospital for evaluation and treatment and likely won't be released until Tuesday or Wednesday. The Browns' rookie receiver was unable to play in Sunday's game against the Bears after the elbow swelled up over the previous couple of days, prompting the procedure. His status will be updated later this week.
10/9/2005
Braylon Edwards, cle
After undergoing a minor medical procedure on Saturday to treat an infection in his elbow, Edwards has been ruled out of Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears. 10/7/2005
Joe Jurevicius, cle
Both regular starters -- Darrell Jackson (knee) and Bobby Engram (ribs) -- are slated to miss Sunday's meeting with the St. Louis Rams, meaning Jurevicius will step into the Seahawks' starting lineup this weekend. Opposite the veteran receiver likely will be D.J. Hackett, with Peter Warrick and Jerheme Urban handling the backup duties.
9/27/2005
Reuben Droughns, cle
Droughns claimed the Cleveland Browns' starting tailback job when Lee Suggs suffered a high ankle sprain late in training camp, and it doesn't appear that he will lose the gig any time soon. According to head coach Romeo Crennel, the former Bronco will be in the starting backfield for the foreseeable future, even though Suggs returned from the injury last week.
9/26/2005
Lee Suggs, cle
As anticipated, Suggs made his 2005 debut in Sunday's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts after missing the Browns first two games of the season with a high ankle sprain. The running back saw limited duty, however, notching just two catches for seven yards and failing to record a carry.
9/25/2005

He's listed as questionable on Cleveland's injury report.
9/22/2005
Derek Anderson, cle
Anderson wasn't out of work for long. After being let go by the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, the rookie quarterback has been claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns. He takes the roster spot of veteran Doug Johnson, who was released by the club on Wednesday.
9/21/2005
Derek Anderson, cle
After signing veteran Kordell Stewart last week, Anderson became expendable, so the Baltimore Ravens decided to release the rookie quarterback on Tuesday. Until regular starter Kyle Boller is able to return from a hyperextended big toe, Anthony Wright will be the team's top signal caller, while Stewart will handle the backup duties.
9/19/2005
Steve Heiden, cle
Heiden had the best game of his NFL career, helping the Browns squeeze by the Green Bay Packers in Sunday's 26-24 victory. The tight end, who was nursing a neck injury all last week, finished the game with six catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. One of his grabs went for a 62-yard score.
Braylon Edwards, cle

The Browns' rookie receiver, who was the third overall pick in this year's draft, finished the contest with three catches for 107 yards. He had just two receptions in his NFL debut last week.
9/18/2005
William Green, cle
Green may not see a lot of action in Cleveland's backfield Sunday against Green Bay. Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said he will stick with Reuben Droughns if the running back is hot, so it's possible that Droughns will play most or all of Sunday's game in Green Bay. Green had just four rushes for 12 yards against Cincinnati last week.
9/16/2005
Reuben Droughns, cle
According to Coach Romeo Crennel, Droughns will start at running back for the Browns when they face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.
9/14/2005
Gary Baxter, cle
Baxter has recovered from the concussion he sustained in an exhibition meeting with the Detroit Lions on August 20, and he returned to full-speed workouts with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. The cornerback reported no problems and said he plans to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
Matt Stewart, cle
An MRI has revealed that Stewart has some ligament damage in his knee, an injury suffered in the Browns' season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. According to head coach Romeo Crennel, the linebacker will miss at least this Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers, and beyond that, his status is considered as week-to-week.
Lee Suggs, cle
Suggs took part in portions of the Cleveland Browns' practice on Wednesday, and there is a chance he could return to action in Sunday's meeting with the Green Bay Packers. However, with Reuben Droughns and William Green currently splitting the carries, the Browns do not need to rush Suggs back into the lineup until he is at, or close to, 100 percent. He has missed nearly a month with a high ankle sprain and resumed jogging just last week.
Joshua Cribbs, cle
