Lewis will sit out the next two weeks because of a nagging hip injury. The Baltimore Ravens running back has been bothered by a strained left hip flexor. 8/19/2006

Lewis forced a fumble on his lone tackle on Thursday in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was Lewis? first on-field action since he went down with a hamstring injury in Week 6 last season.
8/12/2006
Steve McNair, bal
McNair led the Baltimore Ravens to a touchdown in his first series in a preseason game on Friday against the New York Giants. McNair was 4-for-5 for 45 yards and ran in the 6-yard touchdown. It was his only drive in the game. The Ravens quarterback was traded from the Tennessee Titans in the offseason.

7/28/2006
Haloti Ngata, bal
The Ravens and top draft pick Haloti Ngata agreed on a five-year deal late Friday, ending the defensive tackle's one-day holdout. Ngata, the 12th overall selection in the 2006 NFL draft, is expected to report to training camp Saturday. He missed both practices Friday, the first day of camp.
7/21/2006
Chris Chester, bal
Chester agreed to a four-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 302-pound offensive lineman was a second-round pick out of Oklahoma in this year's draft. Chester, a converted tight end, is expected to compete for a starting spot at center or right guard.
David Pittman, bal
Pittman agreed to a three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound cornerback out of Northwestern State was a third-round pick in this year's draft.
7/10/2006
Roderick Green, bal
Green was in good condition Monday after being stabbed at a bowling alley over the weekend. A hospital spokeswoman said the Ravens' linebacker was taken to Sinai Hospital after the stabbing early Sunday morning. The incident occurred when Green bumped into another bowler, leading to an altercation, which Green tried to get away from. He left the bowling alley, but the man stabbed him in the parking lot.
6/27/2006
Ed Reed, bal
Reed was signed to a six-year contract extension by the Ravens on Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
6/19/2006
Gerome Sapp, bal
The Ravens acquired Sapp on Monday from Indianapolis in exchange for a conditional draft pick in 2007. The safety was originally drafted by Baltimore out of Notre Dame in 2003 and was picked up by the Colts off waivers in September 2004. He has 74 tackles in 43 career games.
6/1/2006
Steve McNair, bal
An arbitrator ruled on Wednesday that McNair should be allowed to work out at the Titans' practice facility, something the team barred him from doing since April 3. Tennesse feared McNair would suffer an injury and they would have to absorb a $23.46 million salary cap hit.
5/1/2006
Steve McNair, bal
McNair's agent, Bus Cook, said Sunday the Titans were considering releasing the veteran quarterback or trading him to the Baltimore Ravens, with something possibly worked out by Monday. The Titans drafted Texas quarterback Vince Young with the No. 3 overall pick Saturday as McNair's successor, and they already were looking for a way to reduce or shed the $23.46 million salary cap number the 2003 co-MVP is scheduled to count for in 2006.
4/13/2006
Leo Araguz, bal
Araguz was signed to a one-year contract by the Ravens on Thursday. The veteran punter will replace Dave Zastudil, who signed with the Browns during the opening week of free agency. Araguz played in four games for the Seahawks last season, with a punting average of 40.2 yards. He entered the NFL in 1996 and spent his first four seasons with the Raiders and has also played for the Lions and Vikings.
3/13/2006
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis is returning to Baltimore. He signed a three-year deal worth almost $25 million, but the second and third years are costly options of $10 million per season. Lewis will earn $6 million with a $1 million base for this season.
3/2/2006
Steve McNair, bal
McNair will be paid a $1 million fee that will keep him with the Tennessee Titans for the 2006 season. The Titans will not have to pay a $50 million option that would have extended McNair's contract through 2009.
Trevor Pryce, bal
Pryce was released by the Broncos in an effort for the team to get under the salary cap for the upcoming season. His release saves the Broncos around $8.5 million for the 2006 season. He was joined by running back Mike Anderson and tight end Jeb Putzier as the three players released by the Broncos.
Gary Stills, bal

1/15/2006
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson's 69 yards on 19 carries aren't especially impressive, but the Denver running back scored twice from one yard out in the Broncos' 27-13 win over the defending Super Bowl champs. Going back to the final two regular-season contests, Anderson has scored five touchdowns in the last three games -- all Denver victories.
1/11/2006
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson has had nearly three weeks to recover from the sprained ankle he suffered in a Week 16 win over the Oakland Raiders, and he plans to practice with the Broncos this week and be in the starting lineup for Saturday's playoff matchup with the New England Patriots. The running back, who did not play in Denver's regular-season finale, is not listed on the injury report.
12/30/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair has yet to practice this week, and sources within Titans camp have indicated that he will not be ready for Sunday's season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Nursing a strained pectoral muscle, the veteran quarterback likely will be replaced under center by third-stringer Matt Mauck, who has been taking the majority of the snaps with the first-team offense over the past few days.
12/28/2005
Steve McNair, bal
When McNair reported to the Titans' practice facilities on Wednesday, he still had considerable discomfort in his strained right pectoral muscle. As a result, the veteran quarterback is not expected to work out with the team until at least Friday, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Third-stringer Matt Mauck took the majority of the snaps with the first-team offense and could get the nod if McNair cannot go in Sunday's meaningless season finale against the Jaguars.
12/27/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
After spraining his ankle in Saturday's win over the Oakland Raiders, Anderson left the stadium on crutches, and he is not expected to practice with the Broncos this week, nor be ready for Saturday's meaningless regular-season finale against the San Diego Chargers. Tatum Bell is slated to get the starting nod and handle the majority of the carries for Denver.
12/26/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair remained "a little sore" Monday after exiting last Saturday's 24-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins with a strained pectoral muscle. Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said his starting quarterback probably wouldn't throw before Thursday and was scheduled to have Tuesday and possibly Wednesday off to rest.
12/24/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair left Saturday's game against the Miami Dolphins in the second quarter with a strained pectoral muscle. He was replaced by billy Volek. McNair had completed just 5-13 passes for 34 yards and two interceptions before leaving with the injury.
12/20/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
The sore thumb that kept Lewis on the sidelines last weekend did not prevent him from starting Monday night's matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens' running back, who has been a disappointment overall this season, topped the century mark for the second time in three games, picking up 105 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
Todd Heap, bal
Heap matched a career high with a team-best nine catches in Monday night's victory over the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens' tight end finished the contest with 110 yards and two touchdowns, while also becoming the franchise's leader in career receiving yards (2,841), surpassing the mark formerly held by wideout Qadry Ismail.
Kyle Boller, bal
Despite experiencing some soreness over the weekend in the toe he hyperextended earlier this season, Boller was under center for Monday night's matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens' quarterback did not appear to be hobbled by the ailment, turning in his best performance of the 2005 campaign by far. He posted a 136.8 passer rating, going 19 of 27 for 253 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
12/19/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair completed 23 of 38 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-24 loss to the Seahawks Sunday. With the performance, the Titans' quarterback surpassed 3,000 yards for the fifth time in his career and fourth in the last five seasons.
12/18/2005
Kyle Boller, bal
The Baltimore Sun reports Boller did not practice Saturday because his previously-injured toe was sore. Ravens' coach Brian Billick said he didn't believe his quarterback's injury was serious.
12/16/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
After practicing with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, Lewis was upgraded from questionable to probable on the team's injury report. The running back, who sat out last week because of a sore thumb that prevented him from being able to grip the ball firmly, plans to be available for Monday night's matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
Todd Heap, bal
Heap made it through Thursday's practice without any problems, and he's slated to be in the Ravens' starting lineup for Monday night's meeting with the Green Bay Packers. The tight end is listed as probable on the team's injury report this week, due to a sore toe. He has four or more catches in 11 of his 13 games this season.
12/15/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair's left ankle was still a bit sore on Wednesday, so the Titans decided to hold him out of practice. The veteran quarterback, who watched from the sidelines, is expected to return to the field on Thursday and be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.
12/12/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis had planned to be in the Baltimore Ravens' starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos, but an ailing thumb that prevented him from gripping the ball solidly resulted in him being held out of the contest. Reportedly, the veteran running back aggravated the problem late last week, and after testing it during pregame warmups, the team decided to give the nod to Chester Taylor instead.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton has been much more involved in the Baltimore Ravens' offense over the past couple of weeks. The rookie receiver, who was the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft, had 20 catches for 155 yards and no touchdowns over his first nine NFL contests. He's kicked it up a notch in his last two games, hauling in 14 passes for 191 yards and a score.
12/10/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair practiced in seven-on-seven drills for the first time all week Friday, Dec. 9, but didn't take part in team drills, the Tennessean reported. The Pro Bowl quarterback is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, but coach Jeff Fisher said he expected McNair to be ready to play.
12/9/2005
Orlando Brown, bal
The Ravens have placed Brown on season-ending injured reserve. The tackle has suffered recurring back problems since being involved in an auto accident, missing the last three games after his car was rear-ended almost one month ago.
12/7/2005
Steve McNair, bal
Nursing back, shin, and ankle and injuries, McNair did not practice with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday. However, none of the ailments are considered serious, and the veteran quarterback is expected to return to the field within the next day or two. Barring any setbacks, he will be under center for Sunday's meeting with the Houston Texans.
Ray Lewis, bal
Lewis will miss the remainder of the 2005 campaign after undergoing surgery on Wednesday to repair the tear in his right hamstring. The Ravens' linebacker, who has been sidelined since suffering the injury more than six weeks ago, finishes the year with 46 tackles, one sack and an interception. Bart Scott will continue to start in his absence.
12/6/2005
Ray Lewis, bal
According to Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Lewis has a partially torn right hamstring, and the injury could force him to miss the rest of the 2005 campaign. The All-Pro linebacker, who has been sidelined since October 23, will seek a second opinion before making a decision on the next course of action. There is no timetable for his return.
12/5/2005
Steve McNair, bal
Already nursing a sore hip and back, McNair temporarily was knocked out of Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts after suffering a bruised right shin in the third quarter. After being evaluated on the sidelines, the veteran quarterback was able to return to the Titans' lineup and finish the game. He was 22 of 33 for 220 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
12/4/2005
Ed Reed, bal
Reed will return to the Baltimore Ravens' defensive backfield for Sunday's matchup with the Houston Texans. The safety had been sidelined since Week 6 with a high ankle sprain.
12/2/2005
Ray Lewis, bal
Sidelined for more than a month with a nagging hamstring injury, Lewis has been unable to practice with the Baltimore Ravens this week. As a result, the All-Pro linebacker was downgraded to doubtful on the team's injury report on Friday, and he's not expected to play in Sunday's tussle with the Houston Texans.
Todd Heap, bal
Despite nursing a sore foot, Heap has been on the practice field with the Ravens this week, and he will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Houston Texans, barring any last-minute setbacks. The tight end officially is listed as probable.
12/1/2005
Ed Reed, bal
Sidelined since Week 6 with a high ankle sprain, Reed has been practicing with the Baltimore Ravens this week, and there is a chance he could return to the lineup for Sunday's battle with the Houston Texans. The safety currently is listed as questionable, but he could be upgraded if no problems are reported over the next couple of days.
11/29/2005
Musa Smith, bal
Smith continues to have problems with the leg he fractured in a game last season, and the ailment likely will land him on injured reserve, officially ending his 2005 campaign, according to Ravens head coach Brian Billick. The running back began the season on the physically unable to perform list and has played in just one game since being activated.
11/28/2005
Steve McNair, bal
In Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers, McNair did not appear to be limited by the strained hip that forced him to miss some practice time last week. The veteran quarterback took advantage of the league's worst passing defense, going 23 of 41 for 343 yards and three touchdowns -- both season highs. He threw one interception, but avoided being sacked for just the third time this year.
Jamal Lewis, bal
With Chester Taylor out with injury, Lewis handled the majority of the Ravens' rushing load in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran running back finished the game with 113 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, topping the century mark for the first time this season.
11/27/2005
Ray Lewis, bal
Lewis will miss Baltimore's showdown against Cincinnati Sunday, according to a CBS report. The Ravens' linebacker will sit again with a hamstring injury that dates back to a loss to Chicago on Oct. 23. He has appeared in just one game since then.
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis should be a busy man on Sunday, when Baltimore Ravens play the Bengals in Cincinnati. The Ravens will be without Chester Taylor, turning most of the running duties over to Lewis.
11/22/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair likely won't work out with the Titans on Wednesday, but barring any setbacks, he'll be back on the field for Thursday's practice, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. The veteran quarterback suffered a minor hip strain in last weekend's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and currently is listed as day-to-day. In nine games this season, he has completed 62.6 percent of his pass attempts for 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions and 227.3 yards per contest.
11/21/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis will remain as the Baltimore Ravens' starting tailback, but the team plans to give more carries to backup Chester Taylor going forward, according to head coach Brian Billick. The veteran running back has struggled this season, averaging career-lows of 50.8 yards per game and 3.0 yards per carry. He's found the end zone just once on the ground.
Mike Anderson, bal
With fellow tailback Tatum Bell limited by a chest injury, Anderson handled the bulk of the rushing load for the Denver Broncos in Sunday's win over the New York Jets. The running back finished the contest with 113 yards and a season-high three touchdowns on 26 carries, while adding three catches for 16 yards. He has scored in five consecutive games.
11/20/2005
Ray Lewis, bal
Lewis has been designated as inactive for today's games against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Derrick Mason, bal
Mason will suit up for today's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ed Reed, bal
Despite optimistic reports earlier this week, Reed will not suit up for today's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
11/15/2005
Ed Reed, bal
Reed is optimistic that he will be able to return to the Ravens' defensive backfield for this weekend's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Brian Billick. The safety, who has missed the team's last four games with a high ankle sprain, recently had the protective boot removed from his foot, and he plans to test things out over the next couple of days.
11/14/2005
Kyle Boller, bal
Boller showed some rust in Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The quarterback, who had missed the Ravens' previous seven games with a hyperextended big toe, returned to the lineup and posted a dismal 30.1 passer rating. He finished the game 19 of 33 for 142 yards, three interceptions, no touchdowns.
11/9/2005
Kordell Stewart, bal
Stewart has been released by the Baltimore Ravens, as his services were no longer needed with regular starter Kyle Boller slated to return to action this weekend. The veteran quarterback had been serving as the backup to Anthony Wright, who was promoted to the starting role during Boller's absence. Stewart rushed for 30 yards on three carries in one game, but failed to attempt a pass.
Ed Reed, bal
Reed has yet to resume practicing with the Baltimore Ravens, and the team has already ruled him out of Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The safety has been sidelined since suffering a high right ankle sprain in the team's Week 6 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Musa Smith, bal
Smith has finally recovered from the broken leg he suffered in a game last season and has been activated from the physically unable to perform list by the Baltimore Ravens. The running back, who takes the roster spot of the released Kordell Stewart, will be available for Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
11/7/2005
Kyle Boller, bal
According to Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Boller has recovered from the hyperextended right big toe that has kept him sidelined since the 2005 regular-season opener, and he will be under center when the team takes the field against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Anthony Wright has been starting in Boller's absence, but will return to his duties as the primary backup.
11/6/2005
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton will be in the Ravens' lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, even though his sprained ankle is not back to 100 percent. The receiver was limited in practice all week and had been listed as questionable on the injury report.
11/4/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair was able to practice with the team on Thursday and Friday, and Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher said that McNair will be the starting quarterback on Sunday when the Titans face off with the Browns. The former All-Pro has been dealing with back spasms that had him listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Mark Clayton, bal
ESPN's John Clayton is now reporting that due to a sprained ankle, Ravens' rookie wide receiver Mark Clayton will likely sit out on Sunday. Clayton was injured three weeks ago, and is officially listed as questionable.
11/2/2005
Steve McNair, bal
Not wanting to risk his back flaring up again, the Tennessee Titans held McNair out of practice on Wednesday, even though he said he could have taken the field. According to head coach Jeff Fisher, the move was purely precautionary, and the veteran quarterback will be back under center for the team's workout on Thursday.
Ed Reed, bal
According to Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Reed likely will need at least another week before he is able to return to the starting lineup, even though he's shown improvement recently. The safety has been sidelined since suffering a high right ankle sprain in the team's Week 6 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton has missed the Ravens' last two games with a sprained ankle, but he has responded to treatment recently, and there is a good chance he will be available for Sunday's meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals. According to head coach Brian Billick, the rookie receiver, who was the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft, will test out the ankle in practice over the next couple of days.
11/1/2005
Ray Lewis, bal
Lewis is expected to miss at least two more weeks with the thigh injury he suffered in a game against the Chicago Bears in Week 7, according to Ravens head coach Brian Billick. Bart Scott will continue to fill the void in the lineup until the Pro Bowl linebacker is able to return.
Kyle Boller, bal
After practicing with the Baltimore Ravens last week, Boller has experienced some discomfort in his right big toe. As a result, his workouts might not be as intense over the next several days, as the team doesn't want to push the quarterback too quickly and risk further aggravation of the injury. Boller has been sidelined since hyperextending the toe in the 2005 regular-season opener.
10/31/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson turned in his second consecutive 100-yard outing, picking up 126 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Sunday's 49-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The running back has found the end zone in three straight contests after scoring just once in the Broncos' first five games of the 2005 campaign.
10/28/2005
Mike Smith, bal
The Baltimore Ravens have promoted Smith from their practice squad. The rookie linebacker fills the 53-man roster spot of fullback Alan Ricard, who will miss the rest of the season with calf problems.
10/26/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair took all of the snaps with the Titans' first-team offense and reported no problems with his troublesome back and ankle. Despite being listed as questionable on the injury report, the veteran quarterback, who did not travel to Arizona for last Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, is expected to return to the lineup for this weekend's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.
Ray Lewis, bal
Due to the hamstring pull he suffered in last Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, Lewis already has been ruled out of Monday night's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Ravens head coach Brian Billick. The team currently does not have a definitive timetable for the Pro Bowl linebacker's return.
Ed Reed, bal
As anticipated, Reed has been ruled out of Monday night's tussle with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he continues to be hobbled by a high right ankle sprain. The Ravens' safety, who was the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has been sporting a protective boot on his foot since suffering the injury in Week 6. He missed Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, giving Chad Williams a chance to start.
Kyle Boller, bal
Boller continues to recover from a hyperextended right big toe, and if no problems are reported over the next few days, there is a chance he could serve as the Baltimore Ravens' emergency third-string quarterback in Monday night's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Officially, he has been listed as doubtful for the contest. Anthony Wright will remain under center and at the top of the depth chart for the time being.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton's sprained ankle continues to show improvement, and the Baltimore Ravens are optimistic that he will be available for Monday night's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rookie receiver, who missed last weekend's loss to the Chicago Bears, will be re-evaluated later in the week to determine his status.
10/25/2005
Ed Reed, bal
Reed continues to sport a protective boot on his right foot, and it is highly unlikely that he will be ready for Monday night's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens' safety suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 6 and was forced to miss the team's loss to the Chicago Bears this past Sunday.
10/24/2005
Steve McNair, bal
According to Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, McNair reported no problems after making some throws during the team's limited workout on Monday. The quarterback, who did not travel to Arizona for Sunday's loss to the Cardinals because of a sore back and ankle, is expected to return to the lineup for next weekend's matchup with the Oakland Raiders, barring any setbacks.
Ray Lewis, bal
Lewis did not return to the Baltimore Ravens' lineup after suffering a pulled hamstring in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears. The linebacker is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to rule out any serious damage. If Lewis is forced to miss any time, Bart Scott is the likely candidate to fill the void in the middle of the Ravens' defense.
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis averaged just 2.3 yards per carry in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, finishing the game with only 34 yards on 15 rushes. The Ravens' running back has yet to reach the century mark in a game this season, and he has found the end zone just once in six contests.
Mike Anderson, bal
Tatum Bell made the most of his eight carries by picking up 60 yards in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants, but Anderson handled the bulk of the load for the Broncos, going for 120 yards and a touchdown on 24 rushes. It was Anderson's second 100-yard outing of the 2005 campaign.
10/23/2005
Ed Reed, bal
Reed will be inactive for the Ravens' Week 7 contest with the Bears. The safety is suffering from a high ankle sprain, and will miss the first game (and start) of his NFL career. His consecutive starts streak ends at 53.
10/22/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair did not accompany the team to Arizona and has officially been declared out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals with back and ankle injuries. Billy Volek will make his 10th career start at QB in McNair's place.
10/21/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair missed practice again Friday, and he will be a game-time decision as starting quarterback when the Titans visit the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.
10/20/2005
Steve McNair, bal
After missing practice on Wednesday with a sore back and ankle, McNair was absent from the Titans' workouts again on Thursday, but instead for personal reasons. According to head coach Jeff Fisher, the quarterback's health has improved over the past couple of days, and he is expected to return to the field on Friday.
Ed Reed, bal
Reed's high ankle sprain prevented him from practicing with the Ravens on Wednesday and likely will keep him on the sidelines for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Brian Billick. The starting safety, who was last season's Defensive Player of the Year, continues to receive treatment on a daily basis and currently is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton has been limited to individual work on the side during the Ravens' practice this week because of a sprained ankle, and there is a chance he won't be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears. The rookie receiver, who was the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft, officially is listed as questionable.
10/18/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Despite averaging a career-low 3.0 yards per carry through five games this season, Lewis is in no danger of losing his starting job, according to head coach Brian Billick. The veteran running back has been splitting time with Chester Taylor, but the Ravens plan to continue using Lewis more often going forward, even though Taylor has been more than holding his own.
Ed Reed, bal
According to Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Reed has a high ankle sprain, an injury that typically lingers and forces players to miss at least a couple of weeks. The safety will receive treatment on a daily basis and will be re-evaluated later this week to determine his availability for Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears.
10/17/2005
Todd Heap, bal
Heap was the lone bright spot on the Ravens' struggling offense in Sunday's 16-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns, hauling in six passes for 79 yards -- both season highs. The tight end also found the end zone for the second consecutive week.
Ed Reed, bal
Reed was forced to leave Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns after injuring his right leg. Precautionary X-rays were negative, but the Ravens' safety has been diagnosed with a sprained knee and ankle. He will be limited in practice this week.
10/12/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson will remain the Broncos' starting tailback for the foreseeable future, but with Tatum Bell healthy and posting solid numbers as a change of pace back, he will be forced to split touches going forward. In addition, Ron Dayne could figure into the mix as well. Anderson got just 11 carries in last Sunday's win over the Washington Redskins after topping 20 rushes each of the Broncos' previous two games.
Ed Reed, bal
Reed has been fined $15,000 by the NFL for grabbing an official and shoving him out of the way following an extra-point attempt in last weekend's loss to the Detroit Lions. The Ravens' safety will not miss any time because of the incident.
Terrell Suggs, bal
Suggs has been fined $15,000 for making contact with an official during Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Lions. While arguing a roughing the passer penalty, the defensive end's face mask touched the bill of referee Mike Carey's cap, resulting in him being ejected from the contest.
10/10/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair led the Tennessee Titans to a 34-20 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, going 22 of 31 for 220 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added a one-yard score on the ground and avoided being sacked for the first time this season. With the performance, the veteran quarterback became the second player in franchise history and 49th in NFL history to top 25,000 career yards passing.
10/5/2005
Leo Araguz, bal
After averaging just 34.9 yards per punt over his last two games, Araguz has been released by the Seattle Seahawks. The team inked veteran Tom Rouen on Wednesday to fill the open spot on the roster and handle the punting duties going forward.
Clarence Moore, bal
As was the case during the Ravens' exhibition slate, Moore has had trouble hanging on to the ball so far this season. The receiver, who has three drops and just two receptions through three games this year, has lost his starting job as a result. He will serve as the team's No. 3 wideout, while Mark Clayton will step into the starting lineup opposite Derrick Mason.
10/4/2005
Kyle Boller, bal
As scheduled, Boller had the protective cast removed from his right foot on Monday, and he will begin a rehab program to build back the strength in his ankle and foot. The Ravens' quarterback, who has been sidelined since the 2005 regular-season opener with a hyperextended big toe, could serve as the team's No. 3 signal caller in a game against the Cleveland Browns on October 16, according to head coach Brian Billick.
10/3/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Despite failing to score a touchdown, Anderson had his best game of the 2005 campaign, averaging five yards per carry in Sunday's 20-7 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Broncos' running back picked up 115 yards on 23 rushes, while also hauling in three passes for 27 yards.
10/2/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair has been downgraded to questionable on the Titans' injury report. Suffering from a sore foot, but reporting no problems during the week's workouts, McNair should be ready to play on Sunday despite the injury. With McNair's history of gutting out injuries, he's expected to play through the pain on Sunday against the Colts.
Todd Heap, bal
Heap will be active for Sunday's game against the Jets. The Ravens' tight end had been listed as probable coming into the week with a sore toe.
Kyle Boller, bal
Boller will have the brace removed from his leg on Monday. The former Ravens' starting quarterback is expected to still be out until the end of October. Anthony Wright should continue to start in Boller's place.
9/30/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair was back on the field with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday after skipping Wednesday's practice to rest a sore foot. The quarterback, who was stepped on during last week's action, reported no problems following the workout and plans to be in the lineup on Sunday. He is listed as probable.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton has had plenty of time to learn the Baltimore Ravens' playbook, and the team plans to get him more involved in the offensive attack going forward, according to head coach Brian Billick. The rookie receiver, who was the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft, has hauled in seven passes for 61 yards in two games to date.
9/29/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair was nursing some minor soreness in his foot on Wednesday, so the Tennessee Titans decided to hold him out of practice as a precautionary measure. The veteran quarterback, who was added to the injury report, is slated to work out with the team on Thursday, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.
9/28/2005
Aaron Elling, bal
Elling has signed with the Baltimore Ravens, agreeing to a one-year contract. The kicker battled Paul Edinger for the Vikings' kicking job in training camp this year, but was released just prior to the start of the regular season. He will handle kickoffs for the Ravens, with Matt Stover continuing to boot field goals and extra points.
9/27/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson handled the bulk of the rushing load for the Broncos in Monday night's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, further proving that he has nearly recovered from the rib injury he suffered in Week 1. The running back picked up 98 yards on 20 carries, including a 44-yard touchdown jaunt.
9/22/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson has some lingering soreness in his ribs, but he was able to practice on Wednesday without any major problems. The Broncos have listed the running back as probable on this week's injury report and fully expect him to be in the starting lineup for Monday night's tussle with division rival Kansas City Chiefs.
9/20/2005
Kyle Boller, bal
After getting a second opinion, Boller will not need surgery on his hyperextended right big toe, but the injury will keep him sidelined for at least another three weeks. The Ravens' quarterback, who was hurt in the team's season opener, was still on crutches and sporting a cast on his foot on Tuesday. Anthony Wright will remain in the starting lineup during Boller's absence.
9/19/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Facing a Titans defense looking to bounce back from a poor Week 1 performance, Lewis was held to just nine yards on 10 carries in Sunday's 25-10 loss to Tennessee. The running back's average of 0.9 yards per carry was the worst of his NFL career. He also added four catches for 32 yards.
Mike Anderson, bal
As anticipated, Anderson was in the Broncos' starting lineup for Sunday's meeting against the San Diego Chargers. The running back, who suffered separated rib cartilage in last weekend's season opener, saw limited action in the second half, however, primarily due to fatigue, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. Ron Dayne filled the void in the backfield when Anderson went to the bench.
Kyle Boller, bal
Boller is scheduled to get a second opinion on his hyperextended right big toe, and reportedly, surgery might be required if no improvement is shown in the near future. The quarterback, who suffered the injury in the Ravens' season opener last Sunday, will miss at least another week, and there is a chance he could be sidelined for a couple of months if he's forced to go under the knife.
9/18/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis is active for Baltimore's Sunday contest at Tennessee. The running back broke a finger on his left hand last week in the Ravens' loss to Indianapolis, but he'll be ready to go on Sunday. A week ago he collected 48 yards on 16 carries.
Daniel Wilcox, bal
Bothered by a hip injury this week, Wilcox is active for Baltimore's game against Tennessee on Sunday. He caught eight passes for 78 yards and a touchdown last week in the Ravens' loss to Indianapolis.
9/16/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson participated in practice today, and was able to run without pain. Barring a setback, Denver coach Mike Shanahan is expecting him to be available to start this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
Terrell Suggs, bal
After missing practice on Wednesday with back spasms, Suggs was back on the field with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. The defensive end said he plans to be in the lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Tennessee Titans, and those thoughts were echoed by head coach Brian Billick.
9/15/2005
Todd Heap, bal
Still not quite fully recovered from offseason surgeries on his shoulder and ankle, Heap saw limited action in the Ravens' season opener against the Indianapolis Colts last weekend, but he should see his playing time continue to expand over the coming weeks. The tight end finished Sunday's game with four catches for 38 yards.
Kyle Boller, bal
Boller is expected to be sidelined until at least Week 4 after hyperextending his right big toe in Sunday's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. The Ravens' starting quarterback currently is wearing a protective boot on his foot in hopes of getting back under center as quickly as possible, but at this point, the team does not have an exact timetable for his return. Anthony Wright will take over as Baltimore's top signal caller in Boller's absence.
9/14/2005
Kordell Stewart, bal
With starter Kyle Boller sidelined indefinitely with a hyperextended big toe, the Baltimore Ravens added some depth and experience at quarterback on Wednesday, signing Stewart. The veteran signal caller served as Boller's top backup last season, but appeared in just two games and did not attempt a pass. Receiver Patrick Johnson was waived to open a spot on the roster.
Patrick Johnson, bal
Johnson has been waived by the Baltimore Ravens. The 29-year-old receiver was let go to open a spot on the roster for veteran Kordell Stewart, who signed on Wednesday to supply the team with some insurance at quarterback during starter Kyle Boller's absence.
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson was able to practice with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, but his availability for Sunday's matchup with the San Diego Chargers won't be known until at least Friday, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. The starting running back is trying to play through pain caused by separated cartilage in his ribs, an injury suffered early in last weekend's season-opening loss to the Miami Dolphins. He'll be listed as questionable on this week's injury report.
9/12/2005
Matt Stover, bal
After missing just three field-goal tries all of last season, Stover's 2005 campaign got off to a rough start, as he failed to convert from 38, 45 and 47 yards in Sunday's 2005 opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Going into the game, the Ravens' kicker had nailed 82.7 percent of his attempts in his NFL career.
Jamal Lewis, bal
Tests have revealed that Lewis has a broken finger on his left hand, an injury suffered in Sunday night's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Ravens' running back, who is coming back from offseason ankle surgery, does not expect the new injury to force him to miss any time. He finished Sunday's game with 48 yards on 16 carries.
Mike Anderson, bal
After undergoing more tests on Monday, Anderson has been diagnosed with separated cartilage in his ribs, an injury suffered early in Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos' starting running back, who had just five yards on four carries prior to his departure, will be re-evaluated later this week to determine his availability for next weekend's meeting with the San Diego Chargers.
Kyle Boller, bal
According to Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Boller almost certainly will miss at least next Sunday's matchup with the Tennessee Titans, and the team currently doesn't have a timetable for his return. The starting quarterback was forced to leave Sunday night's loss to the Indianapolis Colts after hyperextending his right big toe. Tests showed no broken bones and ligament damage was minimal.
9/11/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
Anderson picked up just five yards on four carries before exiting Sunday's regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins with a rib injury. The Broncos' starting running back reportedly could have returned to the contest, but was held out by head coach Mike Shanahan as a precautionary measure. He will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine his status.
9/9/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
According to Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick, Lewis will share touches with backup Chester Taylor in the team's first two games of the 2005 regular season. The veteran running back continues to recover from offseason surgery on his right ankle, and the team doesn't want to take any chances with him aggravating the problem. Billick said the two tailbacks time likely will be split evenly in Sunday night's opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
9/8/2005
Todd Heap, bal
Heap does not show up on this week's injury report, but that does not mean he is fully recovered from offseason surgeries on his shoulder and ankle. The tight end has been practicing with the Ravens over the last couple of weeks, and he plans to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. However, he'll probably be limited to about 70 percent of the team's offensive plays, primarily as a precautionary measure.
9/7/2005
Clarence Moore, bal
Despite dropping a couple of passes in the Ravens' preseason finale, Moore will still go into the season as a starter, according to head coach Brian Billick. The receiver, who had 24 catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games in 2004, is slated to line up opposite Derrick Mason.
9/6/2005
Samari Rolle, bal
Rolle will not be suspended, but instead will be fined one game check for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. In April, the Ravens' cornerback accepted a plea bargain to settle a domestic violence charge involving his wife. He missed some time recently with a sprained knee, but expects to be in the starting lineup this weekend.
9/3/2005
Brian St. Pierre, bal
St. Pierre was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, losing out in his battle with Charlie Batch to be the Steelers' No. 3 quarterback.
Aaron Elling, bal
Elling was cut by the Vikings on Saturday. The placekicker had been locked in a battle with Paul Edinger for the job, but injured his right hip before Minnesota's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers, costing him a final opportunity to make his case for the spot.
9/1/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis is expected to be in the Baltimore Ravens' starting lineup for Thursday's preseason finale against the Washington Redskins, but his action will be limited, as the team does not want to risk him aggravating his surgically repaired right ankle. As a precautionary measure, the running back was a late scratch from the Ravens' lineup last week after broken up scar tissue in his ankle caused some discomfort. Chester Taylor will take over after Lewis calls it a night.
Todd Heap, bal
Heap began training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but he has been practicing with the Ravens since being activated last week. Barring any last-minute setbacks, the tight end plans to be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason finale against the Washington Redskins, and he expects to play at least the entire first quarter. Heap has been recovering from offseason surgeries on his shoulder and ankle.
8/30/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Last week, the Ravens indicated Lewis was battling a bone spur in his left foot, an injury in addition to his recovery from offseason surgery on his right ankle. However, the new ailment is in the same foot he had repaired, but is believed to be only scar tissue breaking up. The running back hopes to make his preseason debut in Thursday's finale against the Washington Redskins, but he likely will be a game-time decision.
Musa Smith, bal
Continuing to recover from the broken leg he suffered in a game against the Dallas Cowboys last season, Smith has been placed on the physically unable to perform list by the Baltimore Ravens. The running back will miss at least the first six weeks of the 2005 campaign.
Dan Cody, bal
After suffering damage to the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee during a practice session earlier this month, Cody has been placed on injured reserve by the Baltimore Ravens. The rookie linebacker, who was a second-round pick out of Oklahoma in this year's draft, will miss the entire 2005 campaign.
8/29/2005
Mike Anderson, bal
With his performance in Saturday's exhibition game against the Indianapolis Colts, Anderson all but solidified his job as the Denver Broncos' top tailback for the start of the 2005 regular season. He finished the game with 159 yards and two touchdowns on just 13 carries, including a 93-yard score in the first quarter.
Aaron Elling, bal
Elling strained his right hip prior to last weekend's exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers, which might result in him being cut from the Minnesota Vikings' roster. The kicker has been competing for the job with Paul Edinger, but the injury might prevent him from playing in the team's preseason finale
8/25/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
In addition to recovering from offseason surgery on his right ankle, Lewis now is battling a bone spur in his left foot, and he has been ruled out of Friday's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. According to Ravens head coach Brian Billick, the new injury is not serious, and the team still expects the running back to be ready for the start of the regular season.
8/23/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
The Baltimore Ravens have been bringing Lewis along slowly, as he's been nursing some lingering tenderness in his surgically repaired right ankle. However, the running back has seen more reps in practice recently, and he should be able to make his preseason debut in Friday's exhibition meeting with the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Brian Billick.
Todd Heap, bal
Heap has been activated from the physically unable to perform list by the Baltimore Ravens, and he will return to full-contact practice with the team this week. However, the Ravens plan to bring the tight end along slowly, as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder and ankle surgeries. Heap will not play in Friday's preseason meeting with the New Orleans Saints, but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
8/19/2005
Peter Boulware, bal
Boulware has passed his physical and re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Official terms were not released, but the linebacker reportedly will receiver $1 million this season with another $1 million available in incentives. Boulware, a four-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Ravens in early May, in part as a salary-cap casualty, but also because of health concerns -- he missed the 2004 season with knee and toe injuries.
8/11/2005
Steve McNair, bal
McNair has fully recovered from bone-grafting procedure he underwent on his injured sternum last December, and he will be under center when the Titans face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a preseason contest on Friday. The quarterback is so confident in the status of the bone, he will not wear the protective vest that he had been sporting since last season.
8/9/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
Lewis has reported to training camp with the Baltimore Ravens, and he is expected to work out in pads as early as Wednesday. The running back, who spent four months in a federal prison and two months in a halfway house, said he is in shape, but still has some minor tenderness in his surgically repaired right ankle. He plans to be at full strength for the start of the regular season.
Mike Anderson, bal
Although things are far from settled at this point, Anderson currently is listed at the top of the Broncos' depth chart at tailback. The 31-year-old bruiser reportedly has a slight lead over second-year back Tatum Bell in the early stages of training camp. Quentin Griffin, Ron Dayne and Maurice Clarett follow the top two in the competition.
8/6/2005
Dale Carter, bal
Carter suffered a bruised right quad during Saturday's scrimmage against the Washington Redskin. The injury is not considered serious.
Jamal Lewis, bal
A Ravens team official has reportedly told ESPN that Jamal Lewis will be placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list when he reports to training camp on Monday.
Mark Clayton, bal
Clayton signed a five-year contract worth a reported $8.2 million on Saturday, ending the rookie receiver's five-day holdout. Clayton did not play in Saturday's scrimmage against the Washington Redskins and is expected to practice for the first time on Monday.
8/3/2005
Dan Cody, bal
After signing a four-year rookie contract with the Ravens on Sunday, Cody sprained the ACL in his right knee on Monday in training camp and needed to be carted off the practice field. The second-round pick out of Oklahoma underwent an initial MRI which indicated a severe sprain, and he will be re-evaluated once the swelling subsides. If further testing reveals a more significant tear, the DE/LB likely will need to undergo surgery and would be lost for the season.
7/27/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
A more definitive timetable has been set for Lewis' return to the Ravens as his stay at a halfway house in Atlanta winds down. The franchise running back, who is nearly completed with his sentence for using a cell phone to try to set up a drug deal in 2000, will join the team's training camp on August 4, and will resume full workouts on August 8.
Todd Heap, bal
Offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries have landed Heap on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list as the Ravens prepare to open training camp on Sunday. The move reportedly is precautionary, however, and the team hopes that its star tight end will return to camp by August 15, in time to participate in Baltimore's second preseason game. Heap signed a six-year, $30 million contract extension in mid-June, a deal that is believed to be the largest ever for a TE.
Musa Smith, bal
Smith will be placed on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list to open training camp, and there is no timetable for when the Ravens' third-string halfback will resume normal workouts. Smith broke his right leg in a game against the Cowboys last November, and he still is working his way back from that injury.
6/14/2005
Todd Heap, bal
Heap and the Ravens agreed to a six-year, $30 million contract extension on Tuesday that includes an $11 million signing bonus. The Pro Bowl tight end was limited to just six games last season due to a right ankle injury, and he also underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason. Prior to the injuries, he led Baltimore in receptions in both 2002 and 2003. Heap was entering the final year of the five-year pact he signed as a first-round draft choice in 2001.
6/9/2005
Jamal Lewis, bal
The Federal Bureau of Prisons rejected Lewis' request to be moved from a halfway house in Atlanta to one in Maryland. The denial means that Lewis will miss the Ravens' minicamp next week, and he also will miss the opening of the team's training camp. The running back will not be able to join the club until the first week of August.
6/8/2005
Deion Sanders, bal
Sanders passed his physical on Wednesday, thus making the one-year, $1.5 million deal that he signed with the Ravens on Monday official. The veteran cornerback played in nine games with Baltimore last season, logging three interceptions and five passes defensed. He returned one of those picks for a touchdown, giving him nine interception-return touchdowns in his NFL career. Sanders underwent surgery on one of the toes on his left foot in the offseason.
6/6/2005
Deion Sanders, bal
Sanders has agreed to a one-year, $1.5 contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The deal, which could be as much as $4 million with incentives, is contingent on the 37-year-old defensive back passing a physical. After sitting out four seasons, Sanders returned to action last year, but was limited to just nine games by foot, toe and hamstring injuries. He notched eight tackles and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
6/4/2005
Peter Boulware, bal
Free agent Boulware visited with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, but left without aigning a contract. The linebacker, a four-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Baltimore Ravens in early May, in part as a salary-cap casualty, but also because of health concerns. Boulware missed the 2004 season with knee and toe injuries.
5/21/2005
Terrell Suggs, bal
Suggs has a June 13 trail date in Maracopa County, Arizona to face charges of two counts of aggravated assault. The trial date was set after the linebacker decided against changing his plea of "not guilty" in the chrges that stem from a Phoenix Municipal Stadium parking lot fight after a basketball tournament in March 2003. Suggs is one of four people faces charges in this case.
5/13/2005
Todd Heap, bal
Although he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2005 regular season, Heap likely will be limited over the first couple weeks of training camp, as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder surgery. The tight end was limited to just six games in 2004, due to a nagging ankle injury.
5/11/2005
Peter Boulware, bal
The Ravens released Boulware on Wednesday, primarily due to his hefty contract and increased competition at the linebacker position. Boulware, who missed the entire 2004 campaign with knee and toe injuries, was slated to make a base salary of $6 million in 2005. The team also signed linebackers Tommy Polley and Jim Nelson in the offseason, and selected a pair of LBs in the 2005 draft, including second-rounder Dan Cody out of Oklahoma.
