Marcus Stroud, jac
Stroud's home was burglarized and among the missing items were $20,000 in cash, two semiautomatic handguns and several pieces of jewelry, the Duval County Sheriff's Office said. Stroud declined comment, but police said he told them he returned home after practice Monday afternoon to find a crowbar on his kitchen floor near a rear door and his house ransacked.

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor began training camp Saturday the same way he did last year _ nursing an injury. Taylor strained his right hamstring during a conditioning drill Thursday and was less than full speed when Jacksonville opened camp. It was hardly the start Taylor wanted, especially after spending all of last season recovering from a serious knee injury.

Smith announced his retirement on Thursday. The last original member of the Jaguars ends his 12-year NFL career, which started in 1992 as a second round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys. He joined the expansion Jaguars in 1995 and finishes his career as one of the top wide receivers in NFL history with 862 catches (seventh all-time), 12,187 yards (11th) and 67 touchdowns (31st). He helped the team to two appearances in the Conference Championship games in 1997 and 2000.

Williams was cited for running a red light, turning left from a center lane and unknowingly driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license during a traffic stop on Monday. Additionally, while searching his car, police reportedly found two marijuana cigarettes and a small bag of loose marijuana. The Jaguars' receiver was charged with possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Leftwich struggled in his first game back since breaking his left ankle on Nov. 27, as the Jaguars' lost 28-3 to the Patriots in their Wild Card matchup Saturday. On Tuesday, Edwards signed a contract with the Detroit Lions. The Lions are short at wide receiver, and feel that the former Tennessee Titan will help them with depth at the position. He takes the roster spot of Kevin Johnson, who is out for the rest of the season.

The tight end suffered permanent joint damage after rupturing a tendon in the finger during the 2004 preseason.
