Sproles is out for the season with a broken left leg. The Chargers running back was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday after undergoing surgery on his fractured fibula."That's not good news, but that's the way it goes," Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said. "The time frame was too much, three to four months. When you look at it, it just doesn't make sense right now to bring him back. He should have a full recover."
8/9/2006
Quentin Jammer, sdg
Jammer signed a five-year contract extension on Wednesday, taking him through the 2012 season. Jammer has started every game for the Chargers since 2003. Financial terms were not disclosed.
8/5/2006

Tomlinson missed San Diego Chargers' practice Friday with a sore neck after colliding with teammate Igor Olshansky. Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said "luckily there's nothing serious" about his Pro Bowl running back's setback.
7/26/2006
Antonio Cromartie, sdg
Cromartie missed both practices Tuesday, but did agree in principle to a five-year deal with the Chargers that could be worth $12.75 million. The deal contains guarantees of $7.35 million. "I'm just excited that they're all here," general manager A.J. Smith said of San Diego's draft picks. "You never know until the process begins. I don't think one day missing practice is going to mean anything."
6/17/2006
Nick Hardwick, sdg
The San Diego Chargers signed Hardwick late Friday to a six-year contract that runs through the 2011 season. The Chargers' center has started all 27 career games he's played for San Diego. "It's a huge relief," Hardwick said. "It's nice to know that I'm going to be here for a while and I'm looking forward to this team continuing to move in the right direction."
4/30/2006
Brandon Manumaleuna, sdg
Manumaleuna was obtained by San Diego from St. Louis on Sunday in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. The 26-year-old tight end started 14 games last season but caught just 13 passes for 129 yards. He was a fourth-round draft pick in 2001 by the Rams.
4/18/2006
Andre Lott, sdg
Lott signed a two-year contract with San Diego on Monday. The 26-year-old safety has been plagued by injuries which have limited him to just four games over the last two seasons. Lott was released by Washington before the start of last season after suffering a knee injury. He started three games in 2004 before sustaining a season-ending pectoral injury.
4/13/2006
Rashaun Woods, sdg
The 49ers traded Woods to the Chargers in exchange for cornerback Sammy Davis on Wednesday. Woods, the 31st pick in the 2004 draft, never started a game at wide receiver for the 49ers. 12/29/2005
Eric Parker, sdg
Although he was listed as doubtful last week, Parker played against the Chiefs and caught four catches for 33 yards. The Chargers' receiver is listed as questionable for Saturday's finale against the Broncos, but is expecting to play. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Parker needs four catches to average 50 receptions over the last two seasons. That would increase the $545,000 he is scheduled to receive next season by $500,000.
12/24/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson was able to take part in the full workout on Thursday and will be in the starting lineup when the chargers take on the Kansas City Chiefs on saturday. The running back aggravated his bruised ribs during last Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts.
12/21/2005

12/20/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson probably could have missed some time this week after aggravating his bruised ribs in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, but he was able to work out with the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday. The running back fully expects to be in the starting lineup for Saturday's showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Eric Parker, sdg
Barring a quick recovery, Parker is not expected to be ready for Saturday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs after spraining his foot in a win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend. The Chargers' receiver, who normally lines up opposite fellow wideout Keenan McCardell, currently is listed as doubtful.
12/19/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson reinjured his ribs in a 26-17 win over the Colts Sunday. The Chargers' running back rushed for 76 yards on 24 carries but sat late in the game with bruised ribs. San Diego coach Marty Schottenheimer said the injury was not serious.
Michael Turner, sdg

12/9/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson was able to practice on Friday for the first time all week and is expected to play when the Chargers take on the Miami Dolphins. Tomlinson suffered bruised ribs during last Sunday's victory over the Raiders, but the running back does not expect the injury to hamper him against the Dolphins.
12/8/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
As a precautionary measure, the San Diego Chargers decided to hold Tomlinson out of Wednesday's practice to allow him to recover from the rib injury he suffered in last weekend's win over the Oakland Raiders. Diagnosed as a small bruise, the ailment is considered minor, and the running back has vowed to be in the backfield for Sunday's meeting with Miami.
12/6/2005
Kassim Osgood, sdg
Tests have revealed that Osgood has a torn pectoral muscle, an injury suffered in Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders. According to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, the receiver will undergo surgery in the near future and miss the rest of the season. He will be placed on injured reserve.
12/5/2005
Keenan McCardell, sdg
McCardell caught his 800th career pass in Sunday night's victory over Oakland, making him the 13th player in NFL history to reach that milestone. The Chargers' receiver had four receptions for 60 yards in the game.
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson temporarily was forced to leave Sunday's win over Oakland Raiders after bruising his right side, but the pain in his ribs was not enough to prevent him from returning to the Chargers' lineup. The running back started the second half and finished the game with 86 yards on 25 carries, along with five catches for 24 yards. He failed to score for just the third time this season.
12/2/2005
Roman Oben, sdg
Despite some optimism earlier this week, Oben has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders after failing to practice with the San Diego Chargers on Friday. The left tackle continues to be bothered by soreness in his right foot, which he sprained in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 30 and has been sidelined since.
11/30/2005
Roman Oben, sdg
For the first time in a month, Oben practiced with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday and reported no major problems. The left tackle has been sidelined since spraining his foot in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 30. He'll likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders.
11/28/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson tied a season-high with three rushing touchdowns in Sunday's overtime victory over the Washington Redskins. The Chargers' running back, who finished with 184 yards on 25 carries, posted a 32-yard run to tie the game late in the fourth quarter before adding a 41-yard game-winning score in the extra session. He also added six catches for 29 yards.
11/27/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
CBS is reporting that Gates will play for San Diego Sunday against Washington. The tight end won't miss a start despite spraining his right foot in the Chargers' win over Buffalo last week. For the season, Gates has 56 catches for 784 yards and seven touchdowns.
11/25/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates practiced for the second straight day Friday and is a game-time decision to play in Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins. The Chargers' tight end has been nursing a sprained right foot suffered in the third quarter of last Sunday's 48-10 win over Buffalo.
11/21/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates was sporting a protective boot on his sprained right foot on Monday, and he was unable to work out with the San Diego Chargers. However, all tests on the foot were negative, and the tight end is optimistic that he'll be able to return to the field later this week. For now, he has been listed as day-to-day.
11/18/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
Merriman did not work out with the Chargers on Thursday, due to a severe migraine headache that caused him to get a bloody nose and upset stomach. The Chargers' rookie linebacker, who's also recovering from minor surgery to repair a dislocated a bone in his left wrist, was feeling better later in the day, and he fully intends to be in the lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Buffalo Bills.
11/8/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg

On the day, the running back rushed for 107 yards and three scores on 25 carries, while adding three catches for 46 yards and a TD.
Antonio Gates, sdg

Over his last three games, the tight end has hauled in 26 passes for 349 yards and four touchdowns.
11/4/2005
Randall Godfrey, sdg
Godfrey has been ruled out of Sunday's matchup with the New York Jets to attend the funeral of his sister, who was killed in Georgia earlier this week. The linebacker had been listed as questionable with a neck injury. He should be back in the lineup when the Chargers resume play in Week 11 following their bye.
Eric Parker, sdg
Parker was unable to practice with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday after aggravating his sprained ankle the previous day. According to head coach Marty Schottenheimer, the injury is not serious, and the receiver should be in the lineup for Sunday's meeting with the New York Jets. Officially, Parker is listed as questionable.
11/3/2005
Mike Scifres, sdg
Scifres has re-signed with the San Diego Chargers, agreeing to a four-year contract extension. The punter, who was a fifth-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, is averaging a career-best 45.2 yards on 37 punts this season. He was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2004.
Nate Kaeding, sdg
Kaeding continues to be bothered by soreness in his back and hip, and the Chargers have limited his work at practice over the past couple of weeks as a precautionary measure. The kicker, who did not work out on Wednesday, currently is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. The same was the case last week, and he was able to play in Sunday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
10/31/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates definitely was not bothered by the sore quadriceps muscle that limited him in practice last week, as he hauled in 10 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers' tight end had been listed as questionable on the injury report going into the contest.
10/30/2005
Nate Kaeding, sdg
Although Kaeding missed practice on Friday, Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer is confident that the kicker will be ready for Sunday. Kaeding was given Friday off to rest his sore back, and barring any setbacks, he will be kicking against the Chiefs.
10/28/2005
Lorenzo Neal, sdg
Neal has re-signed with the San Diego Chargers, agreeing to a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2007 campaign. Now in his 13th NFL season and third with San Diego, the fullback has 12 carries for 46 yards and nine catches for 68 yards in seven games in 2005. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2002.
10/27/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates was limited during the Chargers' practice on Wednesday and he has been listed as questionable on the team's injury report, due to a sore quadriceps muscle. The ailment is not considered serious, however, and the tight end is expected to be on the field for Sunday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nate Kaeding, sdg
Kaeding got in his normal workout during the Chargers' practice on Wednesday and fully expects to be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. The second-year kicker currently is listed as questionable on the team's injury report, due to a sore back.
10/24/2005
Roman Oben, sdg
Oben has signed an extension with the San Diego Chargers that will keep him under contract through the 2008 campaign. The offensive lineman has started 134 of the 141 games in which he has appeared, including postseason contests. He was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in June 2004.
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson was unable to get on track in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, as he was limited to a career-low seven yards on 17 carries. The Chargers' running back, who hauled in four passes for 26 yards in the contest, saw his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown come to an end at 18.
10/21/2005
Eric Parker, sdg
Parker did not practice with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday to rest his sore back and sprained ankle. However, the receiver was back on the field Thursday, as he had hoped, and he should be available for Sunday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. He remains listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
10/20/2005
Eric Parker, sdg
After spraining his ankle in last Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders, Parker has landed on the Chargers' injury report as questionable. The receiver, who recently has been nursing a sore back as well, did not practice with the Chargers on Wednesday, but hopes to return to the field within the next couple of days.
10/18/2005
A.J. Feeley, sdg
The Miami Dolphins have traded Feeley to the San Diego Chargers in exchange for quarterback Cleo Lemon and an undisclosed draft pick. Feeley battled Gus Frerotte for the Dolphins' starting job in training camp, but lost the battle and has yet to appear in a game this season. Last year, in his first campaign with Miami, the signal caller went 191 of 356 for 1,893 yards, 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
10/17/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson did it all on Sunday as he caught, threw and rushed for a touchdown in the Chargers' victory over the Raiders. All three scores came in the first half and made him the first player to accomplish the feat since David Patten did it in 2001 for the Patriots. Also, Tomlinson's first score gave him a touchdown for the 18th consecutive game, which ties Lenny Moore's NFL record.
10/15/2005
Cory Withrow, sdg
As part of a shakeup on Minnesota's offensive line, Withrow will be replaced as the starting center by Melvin Fowler for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
10/14/2005
Brandon Manumaleuna, sdg
Sidelined since Week 3 with a sore knee, Manumaleuna returned to practice with the St. Louis Rams this week and has been working out with the first-team offense. The tight end plans to be in the lineup for Monday night's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
Eric Parker, sdg
Limited in practice this week by a sore back, Parker has landed on the Chargers injury report as probable for Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders. However, the injury is considered minor at this point, and the receiver is expected to be in the starting lineup, barring any last-minute setbacks.
10/11/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Despite extending his NFL-best streak of games with a rushing touchdown to 17, Tomlinson was held in check for the most part in Monday night's 24-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry. The running back, who was coming off back-to-back 100-yard outings, finished with 62 yards on 18 carries. Tomlinson actually had better success in the Chargers' aerial attack, hauling in a season-high seven passes for 68 yards.
10/10/2005
Aaron Shea, sdg
After missing the Browns' first three games of the 2005 campaign with a strained muscle in his chest/shoulder, Shea was back in the lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears, as he had hoped. The tight end made his presence felt, tying for the team lead with six catches for 65 yards.
10/9/2005
Brandon Manumaleuna, sdg
Rams head coach Mike Martz does not want to take any chances with Manumaleuna's sore knee and has decided to keep him out of action for at least one more week. The tight end, who has been sidelined since Week 3, has just two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown this season. He primarly serves as a blocker in the Rams' offensive attack.
10/7/2005
Brandon Manumaleuna, sdg
Manumaleuna got some work in with the Rams' scout team during Thursday's practice, but reportedly, head coach Mike Martz plans to keep him out of the lineup for at least one more week. The tight end, who has not played since Week 3 because of a sore knee, currently is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
10/6/2005
Steve Foley, sdg
Foley won't practice much with the San Diego Chargers this week to avoid further aggravation of the abdominal injury he suffered nearly two weeks ago. However, the linebacker fully expects to be in the lineup when the team takes the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday night.
10/5/2005
Nate Kaeding, sdg
Some questions were raised after Kaeding missed a few field-goal attempts during the Chargers' preseason slate, but he's been right on since the start of the regular season. The kicker, who was a third-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, is perfect in four games this year, going 5-for-5 on field goals and nailing all 16 of his point-after tries.
10/4/2005
Aaron Shea, sdg
Shea plans to practice with the Browns this week, and if no problems are reported, he should make his 2005 regular-season debut in Sunday's matchup with Chicago. The tight end has been sidelined since straining a muscle in his shoulder/chest in the team's preseason finale against the Bears on September 1.
Darren Sproles, sdg
Sproles likely will be limited in practice this week after spraining his ankle in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the New England Patriots. However, the rookie running back, who was a fourth-round pick in this year's draft, plans to be ready for next Monday night's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
10/3/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
After getting off to a slightly slow start this season, Tomlinson has been rolling along the past couple of weeks. The Chargers' running back, who topped 200 total yards and scored three times against the Giants in Week 3, rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in Sunday's victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. He also added three catches for 34 yards.
Brandon Manumaleuna, sdg
Manumaleuna's knee was still too sore on Sunday, prompting the Rams to add him to their inactive list for a meeting with the New York Giants. In his absence, Roland Williams filled in at tight end, while Madison Hedgecock handled the fullback duties. Manumaleuna has been listed as day-to-day.
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates topped the century mark for the first time this season, finishing Sunday's victory over the New England Patriots with 108 yards on six receptions. After missing Week 1 while serving a suspension, the Chargers' tight end has hauled in six passes and topped 80 yards in each of his three games this season.
9/27/2005
Rashaun Woods, sdg
After undergoing more tests, it has been determined that Woods will require surgery to repair the ligament damage in his right thumb, an injury suffered late last week. As a result, the San Francisco 49ers have placed the receiver, who was 31st overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, on injured reserve, officially ending his 2005 campaign. He did not record a catch this season.
9/26/2005
Keenan McCardell, sdg
Although McCardell finished Sunday night's victory over the New York Giants with just four catches, two of the grabs resulted in touchdowns. The Chargers' veteran receiver logged 80 yards on the evening. For the season, he has 17 receptions for 257 yards and four TDs.
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson turned in one of the best performances of his NFL career, leading the Chargers to a 45-23 victory over the New York Giants Sunday night. The running back rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries -- a 9.1-yard average. In addition, he hit receiver Keenan McCardell with a pass for a 26-yard touchdown.
9/19/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson now has rushed for a touchdown in 14 consecutive games, breaking the all-time NFL record, formerly held by John Riggins and George Rogers. The Chargers' running back found the end zone twice in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, finishing with 52 yards on 19 carries.
9/17/2005
Marlon McCree, sdg
McCree has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct during Carolina's 23-20 loss to New Orleans last Sunday. The fine is the result of a third quarter hit by McCree on Ernie Conwell that left the Saints tight end with a dislocated jaw and a concussion. It isn't known whether McCree will appeal the fine.
9/15/2005
Igor Olshansky, sdg
Due to a leg injury, Olshansky has not practiced with the Chargers this week, and it's unlikey that he will be available for Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos. The second-year defensive end likely will be replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Luis Castillo.
9/14/2005
Aaron Shea, sdg
According to Browns head coach Romeo Crennel, it is highly unlikely that Shea will be ready for Sunday's Week 2 meeting with the Green Bay Packers. The tight end has been unable to work out with the team since straining a muscle in his shoulder/chest in their preseason finale against the Chicago Bears on September 1.
9/13/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
The San Diego Chargers did not want to take any chances with Merriman's recovering knee, so they decided to hold him out of Sunday's regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. The rookie linebacker, who was the 12th overall pick in this year's draft, has been wearing a protective brace on his leg after spraining the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee a couple of weeks ago. Barring any setbacks, he will see some game action in Week 2.
9/12/2005
Keenan McCardell, sdg
McCardell hauled in a team-high nine passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, but it wasn't quite enough, as the Chargers lost the game, 28-24. The 35-year-old receiver was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers midway through last season, and he finished the year with 31 catches for 393 yards and one touchdown.
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson finished Sunday's 2005 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys with 72 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. He now has rushed for a TD in 13 consecutive games, tying the all-time NFL record shared by John Riggins and George Rogers.
Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates will return to practice with the San Diego Chargers this week and is expected to be in the starting lineup for next Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos. Due to a contract holdout, the All-Pro tight end was placed on the Roster Exempt List and was suspended for the team's last two exhibition games, as well as the first game of the regular season.
9/9/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
After practicing for two consecutive days without any problems, Merriman has been upgraded from questionable to probable on the Chargers' injury list. The rookie linebacker has been wearing a protective brace on his leg after spraining the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee a couple of weeks ago. He was the 12th overall pick in this year's draft.
9/8/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
Limited by a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee over the last couple of weeks, Merriman was able to work out with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday, sporting a protective brace on his leg. The rookie linebacker, who was the 12th overall pick in this year's draft, currently is listed as questionable on the Chargers' injury report, but he has vowed to play in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
9/6/2005
Aaron Shea, sdg
Shea has been unable to work out with the Cleveland Browns since straining a muscle in his shoulder/chest in last Thursday's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears. The tight end, who will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, might be forced to miss Sunday's regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals if he doesn't show any improvement over the next couple of days. He will be listed as questionable.
9/3/2005
A.J. Feeley, sdg
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Feeley has slipped to third string on the Dolphins' depth chart, behind Gus Frerotte and Sage Rosenfels. Feeley started eight games at quarterback for Miami in 2004,but struggled badly this preseason.
8/29/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
According to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, Merriman has been diagnosed with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an injury suffered in last Friday's exhibition game against the Minnesota Vikings. The linebacker, who was the 12th overall pick in this year's draft, reportedly could miss at least two weeks.
8/27/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
A left knee injury suffered on the opening kickoff of the Chargers' preseason game at Minnesota led to linebacker Shawne Merriman spending the rest of the game on the sidelines. While Merriman did not feel the sprain was serious, offering to go back into the game, the Chargers did not want to take any chances with their 2005 first-round pick.
8/25/2005
LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
Tomlinson will be held out of Friday's exhibition game against the Minnesota Vikings as a precautionary measure. The Chargers' running back appeared in the team's last preseason contest, posting a 55-yard touchdown run on his only carry. He also hauled in two passes in limited playing time.
Vincent Jackson, sdg
According to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, Jackson should see significant playing time in Friday's exhibition battle with the Minnesota Vikings, as the team wants to get a good look at the rookie receiver. A second-round pick in this year's draft, Jackson returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the previous several days with an Achilles injury.
8/23/2005
Antonio Gates, sdg
Just two days after ending his contract holdout and reporting to camp, Gates has agreed to a six-year contract with the San Diego Chargers. Although official terms have not been released, the tight end is expected to receive $4-5 million per season through the 2010 campaign. Prior to inking the new deal, Gates was scheduled to earn just $380,000 in 2005 and become a free agent after the season.

Antonio Gates, sdg
Although he still hopes to come to terms on a multiyear contract, Gates has signed the Chargers' one-year, $380,000 tender offer and will report to camp this week. Due to his holdout, the tight end was placed on the Roster Exempt List and he was suspended for the team's last two exhibition games, as well as the first game of the regular season. The Chargers now hope the penalty can be lifted, so Gates can be available for Week 1.

Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates is facing a three-game suspension by failing to meeting the Chargers' Saturday 12:30 p.m. deadline to sign a contract and show up at training camp. The team had warned the tight end that they would suspend him for the final two exhibition games as well as the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys if no agreement was reached by the deadline. The All-Pro TE is seeking a multi-year contract and has refused to sign the one year, $380,000 tender offered by the team.

Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates has yet to report to training camp with the San Diego Chargers, as he continues to hold out for a long-term deal. The tight end does not intend to sign the team's one-year, $380,000 tender in hopes of coming to terms on a three-year contract. Reportedly, the Chargers have informed Gates that if he does not show up by Saturday, he will be suspended for the last two preseason games, as well as the first contest of the regular season.

Rashaun Woods, sdg
After missing the majority of training camp with groin and quadriceps injuries, Woods has returned to practice with the San Francisco 49ers. The receiver, who was the 31st overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, hopes to see some time in Friday's exhibition meeting with the Denver Broncos, barring any setbacks. He was limited by hamstring problems last season and finished with just seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown in 14 games.
Shawne Merriman, sdg
After missing nearly a week of practice with a strained hamstring, Merriman has returned to action with the Chargers. Barring any setbacks, the rookie linebacker, who was the 12th overall pick in this year's draft, should see some time in Sunday's exhibition game against the St. Louis Rams.
8/16/2005
Keenan McCardell, sdg
As a precautionary measure, McCardell might be limited over the next couple of days, due to tightness in his hamstring. However, the injury, which prevented him from practicing on Monday, is considered very minor, and the receiver will be back sooner rather than later, according to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer.
8/15/2005

According to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, Edwards is about 85 percent recovered from the sprained ankle that has kept him sidelined recently. The linebacker reported no major problems after returning to practice with the team on Sunday.
Rashaun Woods, sdg
Woods has been sidelined nearly all of training camp with groin and quadriceps injuries. The 49ers' receiver, who was a first-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, does not know when he will be able to return to action. He continues to be listed as day-to-day.

LaDainian Tomlinson, sdg
As has been the case in past years, Tomlinson won't see much game action in the preseason for the San Diego Chargers in hopes of avoiding injury and being ready for the start of the regular season. The running back did not play in Thursday's exhibition meeting with the Green Bay Packers, giving way to Michael Turner and Darren Sproles.
Nate Kaeding, sdg
Kaeding had some problems with the wet conditions at Lambeau Field late in Thursday's exhibition game against the Green Bay Packers. The Chargers' second-year kicker, who was a third-round pick in last year's draft, was wide left from 45 yards and had kicks sail wide right from 44 and 46.
8/10/2005
Aaron Shea, sdg
According to Browns head coach Romeo Crennel, Shea might be held out of Saturday's exhibition game against the New York Giants, due to a strained hip flexor. The tight end currently is listed as day-to-day with the injury, and he expects to be ready for the start of the regular season.
8/9/2005
A.J. Feeley, sdg
Following a hit from Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher early in Monday's preseason game against the Bears, Feeley was forced to leave the contest. The Dolphins' quarterback, who was 4 of 7 for 35 yards prior to his departure, suffered a bruised buttocks and tweaked his ankle -- neither injury is considered serious. He was replaced under center by Gus Frerotte.

Antonio Gates, sdg
Gates continued to be a no-show at Chargers training camp on Tuesday, marking the fifth day that the third-year tight end was not with his teammates at Chargers Park. Gates, who set a new record for his position last season with 13 touchdown receptions, is holding out for a long-term contract. He is slated to earn $380,000 in '05 as an exclusive-rights free agent, and had been reporting to all of San Diego's required offseason workouts before failing to show up to camp.
8/1/2005
Shawne Merriman, sdg
Merriman agreed to terms with the Chargers on Monday on a five-year deal that is worth as much as $15.73 million, with $9 million of that total guaranteed. The contract means that the linebacker out of Maryland can report to training camp, where his rookie teammates have been at work for the past week. The first of two San Diego first-round picks in the 2005 draft, Merriman was the 12th player taken off the big board in April.

6/21/2005
Andre Lott, sdg
Lott hyperextended his knee during the Washington Redskins' mini-camp over the weekend, and further tests have revealed a hairline fracture just below the joint. The safety will be on crutches for about four weeks, but the team does not expect him to miss much, if any, of training camp.
6/16/2005
Carlos Polk, sdg
Polk, who missed all but one game in 2004 with a shoulder injury, ruptured his left Achilles tendon in practice on Wednesday and likely is done for 2005. The reserve linebacker and standout special-teamer had re-signed with the Chargers as an unrestricted free agent in mid-March. The 28-year-old has been with San Diego since being selected in the fourth round of the 2001 draft.
