New York Jets

8/19/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

The Jets don?t expect to have Pennington at quarterback when they visit the Redskins on Saturday for their second preseason game. Pennington left Jets? camp on Thursday to attend to a family illness and has an excused absence. Pennington is expected to miss a few days of practice and return next week.

8/17/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington was excused from practice Thursday for personal reasons and his status for this weekend's preseason game against Washington is uncertain. Coach Eric Mangini said Pennington left because of a family illness. He wouldn't say whether Pennington would travel to Washington with the team Friday or play against the Redskins on Saturday.

8/12/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington played in his first game since undergoing a second major operation on his right shoulder in the New York Jets preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The seven-year vet was 9-for-14 for 54 yards. He also fumbled once.

7/31/2006

Justin McCareins, nyj

McCareins was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.

7/27/2006

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin was placed on the physically unable to perform list Thursday because of a lingering knee injury. The Jets' running back had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last December, ending his season, and was limited during minicamp last month.

7/21/2006

Eric Smith, nyj

Smith signed with the New York Jets on Friday after they selected him in the third round of April's NFL draft. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound saftey recorded over 100 tackles in each of his last two seasons at Michigan State and his 323 career tackles rank 13th in school history.

Brad Smith, nyj

Smith signed with the New York Jets on Friday after the team drafted him in the fourth round out of Missouri. Smith played quarterback in college, finishing with 13,088 total yards of offense, but will move to receiver with the Jets. Smith holds Missouri school records for rushing touchdowns (42) and passing touchdowns (56).

6/16/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

The New York Jets reportedly have Pennington on a pitch count during minicamp as he's continued rehabbing from a right shoulder injury. The Jets quarterback played just three games last season before re-injuring his right shoulder and undergoing surgery. "Right now am I where I want to be? Absolutely not," he said. "But I understand the long process of getting back and my whole goal is to come back strong for training camp and be ready."

5/31/2006

Wayne Chrebet, nyj

The New York Jets scheduled a news conference for Friday to officially announce Chrebet's retirement. A series of concussions forced the Jets' wide receiver to end his 11-year career. His 580 catches rank second on the team's all-time list behind Don Maynard's 627.

4/23/2006

Cedric Houston, nyj

Houston was injured in a one-car accident late Friday night. The Jets' running back was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening at University of Tennessee Medical Center and released.

4/13/2006

Trey Teague, nyj

Teague, an unrestricted free agent, was signed by the Jets on Wednesday and the terms of his deal were not disclosed. The 31-year-old center spent the last four seasons as a starter for the Bills. He was originally drafted in the seventh round by the Broncos in 1998 and played left tackle.

4/4/2006

Victor Green, nyj

Green signed with the Jets on Tuesday so he can retire as a member of the team for which he played in 1993-2001. Green became the starting strong safety in 1994, and was selected as a member of the Jets Four Decade Team in 2003.

3/17/2006

Patrick Ramsey, nyj

Ramey's stay with Washington is reportedly done. ESPN.com is reporting the Redskins traded the 27-year-old quarterback to the Jets in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick on Saturday.

3/6/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington has agreed to a restructured contract with the New York Jets. The quarterback had an eight-year contract worth $64 million and was due $9 million in 2006. If Pennington did not restructure the contract and the Jets waived him, he would have cost the team $12 million against the 2006 salary cap.

2/14/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

The New York Jets are reportedly attempting to renegotiate Pennington's contract. The Jets' quarterback missed much of the last two seasons because of an injured throwing shoulder. He was injured in the third game of last season, had rotator cuff surgery and missed the remainder of the season.

1/15/2006

Andre Dyson, nyj

Dyson, who returned to Seattle's lineup Saturday after missing four games with a high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 13, left in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Whether he aggravated the old injury hasn't been reported, but the Seahawks' cornerback returned to action in the fourth quarter.

1/11/2006

Andre Dyson, nyj

Dyson reported no major problems -- other than some expected rust -- after returning to practice with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. The cornerback, who has been sidelined since suffering a high ankle sprain in a Week 13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, is not listed on the team's injury report this week and plans to be in the starting lineup for Saturday's playoff game against the Washington Redskins.

1/3/2006

Chad Pennington, nyj

Dr. James Andrews repaired damage to the rotator cuff, anterior capsule and labrum in Pennington's ailing right shoulder in October, the second major shoulder surgery the Jets' quarterback underwent in less than a year. According to head coach Herman Edwards, even if Pennington has fully recovered from the procedures by training camp, he is not guaranteed the team's starting job in 2006.

12/27/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Taking over for starter Brooks Bollinger late in Monday night's loss to the New England Patriots, Testaverde connected with receiver Laveranues Coles for a 27-yard score. With the toss, the Jets' veteran quarterback became the only player in NFL history to record a touchdown pass in 19 consecutive seasons.

Chad Pennington, nyj

According to Jets offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, there is no guarantee that Pennington will be ready for the start of training camp next summer. The quarterback continues to recover from his second major shoulder injury in the last year and likely will miss most of the team's offseason minicamps and workouts. Dr. James Andrews repaired damage to the rotator cuff, anterior capsule and labrum in Pennington's ailing right shoulder in October.

Laveranues Coles, nyj

Coles hauled in five passes for 71 yards, including two fourth-quarter touchdowns, in Monday night's loss to the New England Patriots. The Jets' receiver has three TDs in his last two games after finding the end zone just twice in his first 13 contests of the 2005 campaign.

12/22/2005

Wayne Chrebet, nyj

Due to several head injuries over the past few seasons, Chrebet has decided to retire from the NFL. After signing as an undrafted free agent out of Hofstra, the receiver spent his entire 11-year career with the New York Jets, finishing with 580 catches -- second most in franchise history -- for 7,365 yards and 70 touchdowns in 152 games.

12/20/2005

Derrick Blaylock, nyj

Blaylock probably could have seen some time in Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins, but the Jets decided to give him one more week to recover from the broken foot that has kept him off the field since Week 5. According to head coach Herman Edwards, the veteran running back should be available for duty in Monday night's tussle with the New England Patriots, barring any last-minute setbacks.

12/15/2005

Derrick Blaylock, nyj

Blaylock, who has been sidelined since Week 5 with a broken foot, could return to action as early as Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins. The veteran running back was able to work out with the Jets on Thursday, but remains listed as questionable on this week's injury report. He'll likely be a game-time decision.

12/13/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

As was reported over the weekend, Martin will undergo surgery on his troublesome right knee in the near future, which will bring an end to his 2005 campaign. The veteran running back, who has been battling the problem all season, will be placed on injured reserve, but he has vowed to return to the Jets' backfield in 2006. Martin finishes the year with 735 rushing yards, failing to become the first NFL player with 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first 11 seasons.

12/12/2005

Cedric Houston, nyj

With Curtis Martin scheduled to undergo surgery on his troublesome knee and miss the rest of the 2005 campaign, Houston will take over as the feature back in the New York Jets' offensive attack. The rookie running back, who was a sixth-round pick in this year's draft, made his first start in Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders, finishing with 74 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.

12/11/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin will undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee after missing Sunday's game against Oakland. The Jets' running back, who initially injured the knee in Week 2, missed his first game since 1998.

12/10/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

The New York Daily News reported if Martin doesn't play in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders because of a nagging knee injury, he might end his season early to undergo surgery. There's a possibility the Jets' running back has cartilage damage.

12/9/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders because of the sore knee that has troubled him for most of this season. The running back will likely be a gametime decision.

12/8/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde has recovered from his calf and ankle injuries and is available for duty. According to Jets head coach Herman Edwards, the veteran quarterback will see some time over the last four games of the season, but just how he will be used is yet to be determined. Brooks Bollinger is slated to start this weekend's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin's nagging knee injury continues to be a problem, and he was held out of practice on Wednesday as a precautionary measure. The Jets' veteran running back, who likely will need offseason surgery to repair the damage in the knee, is expected to be in the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

12/7/2005

Andre Dyson, nyj

Dyson has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, an injury more serious than thought initially. The ailment is expected to keep the Seahawks' cornerback sidelined for the rest of the regular season, but the team has not ruled him out for the playoffs, according to head coach Mike Holmgren. Dyson suffered the injury on his second touchdown return in Monday night's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

12/6/2005

Andre Dyson, nyj

Dyson found the end zone twice in Monday night's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, returning both an interception and fumble for touchdowns. However, the Seahawks' cornerback sprained his left ankle while taking back the fumble early in the second half and had to be carried off the field by several teammates. He left the stadium on crutches, sporting a protective boot on his foot.

11/28/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Coming off a dismal seven-yard outing the previous week, Martin had 91 yards on 24 rushes in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. With the performance, the Jets' tailback reached a pair of milestones. He became just the fourth player in NFL history to rush for more than 14,000 yards, and also topped 3,500 carries, joining Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith as the only players to accomplish that feat.

11/21/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde went 15 of 25 for 152 yards, threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles after taking over for Brooks Bollinger, who suffered a concussion and was forced to leave early in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. The veteran signal caller was unable to finish the game, however, leaving in the closing minutes with a sprained ankle. He was replaced by third-stringer Kliff Kingsbury.

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin turned in his worst outing of the 2005 campaign, picking up just seven yards on four carries in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. After falling behind early, the Jets rushed the ball just seven times in the game, primarily the reason for Martin's limited production.

Brooks Bollinger, nyj

According to head coach Herman Edwards, Bollinger will be under center when the Jets take the field against the New Orleans Saints next weekend. The quarterback missed the majority of Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos after taking a crushing blow from Al Wilson in the first quarter, suffering a concussion. He was seen vomiting on the sidelines, but reported feeling much better on Monday.

11/17/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

As has been the case the past several weeks, Martin is listed as probable on the Jets' injury report. The veteran running back, who has been battling a sore knee, did not practice with the team on Wednesday as a precautionary measure, but he fully intends to be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos.

11/15/2005

Brooks Bollinger, nyj

According to Jets head coach Herman Edwards, with Jay Fiedler still a couple weeks away from returning from a shoulder injury and Vinny Testaverde not fully recovered from his nagging calf problem, Bollinger will get the starting nod in Sunday's matchup against the Denver Broncos. The inexperienced quarterback had a rough outing in last weekend's loss to the Carolina Panthers, going 11 of 21 for 98 yards, four interceptions and no touchdowns.

11/12/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

The team revealed Friday that Martin suffered what is believed to be a partially torn ligament in his knee way back in Week Two, an injury that should have sidelined the running back for at least two weeks. However Martin, who hasn't missed a game since 1998, had a strong practice Friday, and again is expected to play when the Jets take on Carolina on Sunday.

David Barrett, nyj

Barrett will sit out Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers because of an eye injury. The cornerback was injured when he was poked in the eye during last week's loss to the Chargers.

11/11/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Due to some concern with the status of Martin's troublesome knee, the New York Jets have added him to this week's injury report. The running back, who's been battling soreness in the joint for the majority of the season, currently is listed as probable. He was able to work out with the team on Thursday and plans to be in the lineup against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

11/8/2005

Dante Ridgeway, nyj

The New York Jets have promoted Ridgeway from their practice squad, filling the roster spot of tight end Chris Baker, who will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. The rookie receiver was a sixth-round pick in this year's draft out of Ball State.

11/7/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde could be available for backup duty, but he won't be in the Jets' starting lineup when they take the field against the Carolina Panthers next weekend. Head coach Herman Edwards already has announced that Brooks Bollinger will get the nod. After straining a calf muscle in the team's previous contest, Testaverde returned to action in Sunday's meeting with the San Diego Chargers, but he aggravated the injury in the second half and missed the rest of the game.

Curtis Martin, nyj

With a one-yard score in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers, Martin notched the 100th touchdown of his NFL career, becoming just the 16th player in league history to reach the plateau. The Jets' veteran running back finished the game with 72 yards on 21 carries.

Wayne Chrebet, nyj

After suffering at least the ninth concussion of his career, Chrebet has been placed on injured reserve by the New York Jets, officially ending his 2005 campaign. The veteran receiver hit his head hard on the turf after taking a shot from safety Jerry Wilson late in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers, and he needed help untying his shoes and taking his jersey and pads off after the game.

Doug Jolley, nyj

Jolley should become more involved in the Jets' passing attack going forward, as fellow tight end Chris Baker will miss the rest of the season with a broken ankle. Acquired from the Oakland Raiders in April, Jolley has hauled in just eight passes for 91 yards in eight games this season.

Chris Baker, nyj

According to Jets head coach Herman Edwards, Baker will miss the rest of the 2005 campaign after breaking his left ankle in Sunday's matchup with the San Diego Chargers. The tight end, who will be placed on injured reserve, had two catches for 49 yards prior to his departure.

Brooks Bollinger, nyj

The Jets already have decided on their starting quarterback for next weekend's matchup with the Carolina Panthers, giving Bollinger the nod following his solid performance on Sunday. After taking over for veteran Vinny Testaverde, who aggravated a calf injury, Bollinger nearly led the team to a comeback victory over the Chargers, completing 11 of his 20 pass attempts for 106 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

11/4/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde has taken the majority of the snaps with the Jets' first-team offense in practice this week, and barring any last-minute setbacks, he will be under center for Sunday's tussle with the San Diego Chargers. The veteran quarterback strained his lower calf muscle in the Jets' last game, but used last week's bye to rest and recover. Officially, he has been listed as probable.

11/2/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin had a chance to rest his sprained right knee during the Jets' bye last week, but he admitted that the time off still wasn't enough to get the leg back to full strength. As a precautionary measure, the veteran running back could miss some practice time over the coming weeks, but he plans to be in the starting lineup on game days.

11/1/2005

Reggie Newhouse, nyj

With Anquan Boldin nursing a bone bruise in his knee, the Cardinals have added some insurance to their receiving corps, signing Newhouse on Tuesday. The wideout appeared in three games with Arizona last season, but was released just prior to the start of the 2005 campaign. Cornerback Dyshod Carter was released to open a spot on the roster.

10/31/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde returned to the practice field with the New York Jets on Monday and split first-team snaps with Brooks Bollinger. The veteran quarterback was forced to leave the team's last contest with a strained lower calf muscle and used last week's bye to rest and recover. As long as he continues to progress over the course of this week, Testaverde is expected to be under center when the Jets take the field against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

10/26/2005

Eric Barton, nyj

Tests have revealed that Barton has a torn left triceps muscle, an injury suffered in Monday night's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Surgery is required, and the linebacker will miss the rest of the 2005 campaign. He will be placed on injured reserve.

Alonzo Jackson, nyj

Jackson has signed with the New York Giants, filling the roster spot of Barrett Green, who will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. The third-year linebacker spent his first two NFL campaigns with the Pittsburgh Steelers and appeared in one game with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year.

10/25/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Further tests on Testaverde's ailing right leg have revealed a strained lower calf muscle, not an Achilles tendon injury as originally thought. The Jets' veteran quarterback does not believe the ailment is serious, and he plans to be under center when the team takes the field against the San Diego Chargers on November 6. The Jets have a bye in Week 8.

Justin McCareins, nyj

After missing the majority of practice last week with a calf ailment, McCareins was downgraded to questionable on the Jets' injury report over the weekend. However, the injury did not prevent the receiver from playing in Monday night's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, as he finished the contest with two catches for 46 yards.

10/24/2005

Justin McCareins, nyj

After failing to practice with the team last week, McCareins was downgraded from probable to questionable on the Jets' injury report, and he will be a game-time decision for Monday night's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. The receiver will test out the leg during warmups to determine his availability. If he's unable to go, veteran Wayne Chrebet likely will step into the starting lineup opposite Laveranues Coles.

10/20/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin, who is coming off his best game of the season, has not practiced with the New York Jets this week, as the team is allowing him to rest his sore knee. However, the veteran running back is listed as probable on the injury report and fully expects to be ready for a Monday night matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Justin McCareins, nyj

McCareins has not practiced with the New York Jets this week, sitting out because of a sore knee. The injury is not considered serious, however, and the move is precautionary. The Jets have listed the receiver as probable for Monday night's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

10/17/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

After averaging just 2.7 yards per carry through his first five games of the 2005 campaign, Martin had a breakout performance against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, picking up 148 yards on 18 rushes -- an 8.2-yard average. The Jets' veteran running back also notched his third touchdown in his last two games.

Justin McCareins, nyj

McCareins finished Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills with a personal-best 116 yards on five catches -- the first 100-yard game of his five-year NFL career. For the season, the Jets' receiver has 17 receptions for 317 yards, but has yet to find the end zone.

10/13/2005

Laveranues Coles, nyj

Coming off a one-catch performance in Week 4, Coles had his best outing of the 2005 campaign in last Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Jets' receiver, who was acquired from the Washington Redskins for Santana Moss earlier this year, hauled in six passes for 89 yards.

10/11/2005

Andre Dyson, nyj

Dyson pulled his hamstring in Sunday's victory over the St. Louis Rams, and the Seahawks expect to be without his services for the next couple of weeks. Until the cornerback can return to action, Kelly Herndon is slated to step into the starting lineup for Seattle.

Derrick Blaylock, nyj

After indicating the previous day that Blaylock would miss the rest of the season with a broken bone in his foot, Jets head coach Herman Edwards changed his opinion on Monday and said the team expects the running back to return in December. Blaylock, who went down in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will undergo surgery on Wednesday, and he should be back in action within 6-8 weeks, according to Edwards.

10/10/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin posted just 2.6 yards per carry in Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but found the end zone twice, notching his first touchdowns of the 2005 campaign. The Jets' running back had been listed as probable going into the game, nursing a sore knee, which he strained earlier this season and aggravated last week. His 23 rushes on Sunday was his second-highest total of the season.

Derrick Blaylock, nyj

Blaylock suffered a broken foot in Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and according to Jets coach Herman Edwards, the injury likely will prevent the running back from returning to action this season. In five games to date, Blaylock has rushed for 19 yards on 10 carries, while also hauling in two passes for 13 yards.

Cedric Houston, nyj

Houston is expected to move up a spot on the Jets' depth chart and serve as Curtis Martin's primary backup going forward. The rookie running back takes over for veteran Derrick Blaylock, who likely will miss the rest of the season after breaking his foot in Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Houston has yet to record a carry in a regular-season NFL game.

10/9/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

As anticipated, Martin will be in the starting lineup when the Jets' take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The veteran running back, who strained his knee earlier this season before getting kicked in the same leg last weekend, was listed as probable on the Jets' injury report this week and was limited in practice as a precautionary measure.

10/7/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

To rest his sore knee, Martin did not practice with the Jets Wednesday or Thursday, but he's currently listed as probable on the team's injury report. The veteran running back, who strained his knee earlier this season before getting kicked in the same leg last weekend, said he will be in the lineup when the Jets take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Chad Pennington, nyj

During an arthroscopic procedure on Thursday, Dr. James Andrews repaired damage to the rotator cuff, anterior capsule and labrum in Pennington's ailing right shoulder. The Jets' quarterback had been holding out slim hope that he could return to action this season, but after undergoing the surgery, that will not happen, as he will be sidelined indefinitely. The club is optimistic that Pennington will be fully recovered by the start of the 2006 campaign.

10/5/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Looking for some veteran experience to get the Jets' offense moving, head coach Herman Edwards has named Testaverde as the team's starter going forward. The 41-year-old quarterback, who inked with the club last week after Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler went down with shoulder injuries, replaces third-year signal caller Brooks Bollinger.

Brooks Bollinger, nyj

Opting to go with a more experienced option, the New York Jets have decided to move veteran Vinny Testaverde into the starting lineup, beginning with this weekend's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a result, Bollinger will slide down to the No. 2 hole. Bollinger made his first career start in last week's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, going 14 of 28 for 149 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

10/3/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin temporarily was forced to leave Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Ravens after getting kicked in the leg by another player. The running back was able to return to the Jets' lineup and finish the game. His day was unproductive overall, as he finished with 30 yards on 13 carries to go along with three catches for 15 yards.

9/28/2005

Eric Barton, nyj

Barton is sporting a protective boot on his right foot after spraining his right ankle in last weekend's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets' starting linebacker is not expected to be recovered in time for Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Ravens, and he has been listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.

Chad Pennington, nyj

Although he's still expected to miss the rest of the 2005 season, Pennington will not be placed on injured reserve immediately by the New York Jets. After reviewing the results of a second MRI, Dr. James Andrews determined that the quarterback's shoulder injury is not as serious as first thought. Pennington does have damage to his rotator cuff, but he will take a couple weeks off before being re-evaluated to determine the next course of action.

B.J. Askew, nyj

Nursing a sprained ankle, Askew has been unable to practice with the New York Jets this week. As a result, the team already has ruled the fullback out of Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Ravens.

9/27/2005

Vinny Testaverde, nyj

Testaverde has agreed to terms with the New York Jets, and his signing reportedly will become official if he passes a physical on Tuesday. With their top two quarterbacks -- Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler -- out indefinitely with shoulder injuries, the Jets decided to add the 41-year-old signal caller, who was with the club from 1998-2003.

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington will travel to Alabama this week to get a second opinion on his injured right shoulder, but according to sources within the Jets' organization, tests have revealed that the quarterback has a torn rotator cuff. If Andrews agrees with the original diagnosis, Pennington will be forced to undergo surgery yet again and will miss the rest of the 2005 campaign. He's gone 49 of 83 for 530 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in three games this season.

9/26/2005

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets' quarterback was knocked out early in the second half, but was forced to return to the lineup after backup Jay Fielder went down with a shoulder problem as well. For now, he has been listed as day-to-day.

Brooks Bollinger, nyj

According to head coach Herman Edwards, Bollinger is expected to take the majority of the snaps with the Jets' first-team offense this week and likely will be under center when the team takes the field against the Baltimore Ravens next weekend. The third-string quarterback has been thrust into the starting role after both Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler went down with shoulder injuries in Sunday's overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

9/22/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin reported no problems with his knee after taking part in a full workout with the New York Jets on Thursday, and he has been upgraded from questionable to probable for Sunday's battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran running back suffered a minor strain of the knee in the first quarter of last weekend's win over the Dolphins, but he was able to remain in the lineup and pick up 72 yards on 31 carries.

9/20/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

An MRI on Martin's ailing right knee showed no structural damage, and the Jets' running back has been diagnosed with only a minor strain. Although he'll likely miss some practice time this week, Martin should be ready for Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The injury occurred in the first quarter of last weekend's win over the Dolphins, but Martin was able to remain in the lineup and pick up 72 yards on 31 carries.

9/19/2005

Curtis Martin, nyj

Martin is nursing a strained right knee, an injury suffered in Sunday's victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Jets' veteran running back is scheduled to undergo a precautionary MRI on Monday to rule out any serious damage. His status will be updated following review of the test results. For now, he has been listed as day-to-day.

Anthony Clement, nyj

Clement has signed with the San Francisco 49ers. A second-round pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, the veteran offensive lineman spent his first seven seasons with Arizona. He was with Denver in training camp this year, but was cut just prior to the start of the regular season.

Erik Coleman, nyj

Coleman underwent surgery on Monday to repair damage to his right thumb. The Jets' starting safety dislocated and fractured the digit during Sunday's victory over the Miami Dolphins, and his availability for the team's next contest currently is in question. He will be re-evaluated later this week to determine his status.

9/12/2005

Chad Pennington, nyj

Pennington completed 21 of his 34 pass attempts for 264 yards in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was unable to lead the Jets on a scoring drive.
