Samkon Gado

12/30/2005

Earlier this week, the Green Bay Packers were optimistic that Gado would be available for Sunday's season finale against the Seattle Seahawks. However, the rookie running back has not fully recovered from the torn medial collateral ligament in his knee, and he's been ruled out as a result.

According to Packers head coach Mike Sherman, Gado has shown significant progress in his recovery from a torn medial collateral ligament, and there is a chance he could see some action in Sunday's season finale against the Seattle Seahawks. The rookie running back, who suffered the injury in Week 15, was thought to be lost for the season. He'll likely be a game-time decision.

An MRI on Gado's injured right knee has revealed a torn medial collateral ligament, and he will miss the Packers' last two games of the 2005 campaign, according to head coach Mike Sherman. The rookie running back suffered the injury in the first half of Monday night's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He'll likely be placed on injured reserve.

Gado was unable to return to the Packers' lineup after injuring his right knee on a run in the first half of Monday night's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. According to head coach Mike Sherman, the rookie running back has been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament, but some reports have indicated that there might be a tear. He will be re-evaluated on Tuesday to determine the exact extent of the injury.

Gado was a workhorse for the Packers in Sunday's overtime win over the Detroit Lions, rushing for a team rookie-record 171 yards and a touchdown on a career-high 29 carries. The running back has now topped the century mark in three of his last five games.

Gado fumbled for the fourth time in three games, but the Packers stuck with him in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, as the rookie running back finished with 111 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. His previous three fumbles were recovered by Green Bay.

Gado was in the Packers' starting lineup for Monday night's meeting with the Minnesota Vikings, but after dropping a pass late in the second quarter and fumbling in the third, he was replaced by Tony Fisher. The rookie running back, who scored three touchdowns last weekend, but fumbled twice, finished Monday's last-second loss with just seven yards on 10 carries and one catch for 30 yards.

Making the first start of his NFL career, Gado rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in Sunday's 33-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers' rookie running back also hauled in four passes for five yards and a score, giving him four TDs overall in three games played.

Due to injuries to Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport and Tony Fisher, along with the benching of ReShard Lee following an early fumble, Gado stepped into the Packers' backfield and handled the majority of the carries in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The undrafted rookie running back took advantage of the opportunity, picking up 62 yards and scoring the first touchdown of his NFL career on 26 carries.
