Nick Novak

12/2/2005

Novak has signed with the Arizona Cardinals after working out for the club on Friday. With regular starter Neil Rackers sidelined indefinitely with a partially torn calf muscle, Novak will handle the team's kicking duties for at least the next couple of weeks.

With John Hall evidently fully recovered from a quad injury, the Redskins released Novak on Saturday. Novak hit 5 of 7 field goals and all 15 extra-point attempts in five games for the Redskins.

Novak is expected to handle the Redskins' kicking duties in Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, as regular kicker still is not back to full strength after suffering a quadriceps injury in the team's season opener earlier this month. Novak has yet to attempt a field goal in a regular-season NFL game, but he's 2-for-2 on point-after tries.

Novak has signed with the Washington Redskins. With regular starter John Hall expected to miss at least Monday's meeting with the Dallas Cowboys because of a strained right quadriceps muscle, Novak is slated to handle the team's kicking duties for the time being. He spent training camp with the Chicago Bears, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.
