Chris Kluwe

1/2/2006

Kluwe will have reconstructive surgery later this month to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The Vikings' rookie punter finished sixth in the NFL and second in the NFC with a 44.1-yard gross average this season. He injured the knee against the Detroit Lions on Dec. 4 and played through pain for the final three weeks of the season.

According to Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice, Kluwe will be forced to miss Sunday's matchup with the St. Louis Rams after spraining his ankle in last weekend's win over the Detroit Lions. The team will audition temporary replacements this week.
