Houston was injured in a one-car accident late Friday night. The Jets' running back was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening at University of Tennessee Medical Center and released.

With Curtis Martin scheduled to undergo surgery on his troublesome knee and miss the rest of the 2005 campaign, Houston will take over as the feature back in the New York Jets' offensive attack. The rookie running back, who was a sixth-round pick in this year's draft, made his first start in Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders, finishing with 74 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.

Houston is expected to move up a spot on the Jets' depth chart and serve as Curtis Martin's primary backup going forward. The rookie running back takes over for veteran Derrick Blaylock, who likely will miss the rest of the season after breaking his foot in Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Houston has yet to record a carry in a regular-season NFL game.
