Kyle Orton
1/1/2006
The FOX affiliate in Chicago is reporting that Orton will quarterback the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. With a playoff spot secured, the Bears will not start Rex Grossman. Orton is 10-4 in 14 games this season, though with just nine touchdown passes, 13 interceptions and a 59.9 passer rating.
12/19/2005
Orton will be replaced by Rex Grossman in the starting lineup Sunday when the Bears play the Packers. After completing just 2 of 10 passes for 12 yards in the first half of Sunday's 16-3 win over the Falcons, Orton was pulled in place of Grossman.
12/12/2005
Orton completed just 17 of his 35 pass attempts and failed to lead the Chicago Bears on a touchdown drive in Sunday's 21-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the rookie quarterback did not throw an interception and passed for 207 yards, the second-best yardage total of his young NFL career.
9/26/2005
Orton definitely looked like a rookie in Sunday's 24-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, throwing a career-high five interceptions. The Bears' quarterback finished with a 14.7 passer rating, going 17 of 39 for 149 yards and no touchdowns. He'll have some extra time to bounce back from the dismal performance, as the Bears have a bye in Week 4.

As was rumored over the weekend, the Chicago Bears have named Orton as their starting quarterback going into the 2005 regular season. With projected starter Rex Grossman out for the year with a broken ankle, the rookie signal caller has looked solid in the Bears' recent preseason contests, prompting the team to give him the nod. Chad Hutchinson, who was the top candidate for the job when Grossman went down, has been demoted to No. 4 on the depth chart.
8/28/2005
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Bears rookie quarterback Kyle Orton will likely be named the regular-season starter. The announcement is expected to come as early as Sunday, as the former fourth-round pick has played his way into the opportunity.
8/27/2005
Kyle Orton is doing everything he can to cause a quarterback controversy in Chicago. On Friday, Orton completed seven of nine passes for 79 yards with one touchdown against the Bills. Bears starting quarterback Chad Hutchinson, meanwhile, completed just three of his 14 passes, while being picked off twice.
7/24/2005
The Bears signed Orton to a four-year deal on Sunday, and the team's fourth-round selection in this year's draft will report to camp. Orton was a Heisman Trophy candidate at Purdue last season before he was sidelined with hip and abdominal injuries. He is expected to be the Bears' third-string quarterback behind starter Rex Grossman and No. 2 man Chad Hutchinson.
