Mark Bradley

10/31/2005

Tests have revealed that Bradley has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, an injury suffered late in the first half of Sunday's overtime victory over the Detroit Lions. The Bears' receiver, who had five catches for a team-high 88 yards prior to his departure, will undergo surgery in the near future and miss the rest of the 2005 campaign.

The Bears have removed wide receiver Mark Bradley from their injury report, stating that the rookie will be ready to play on Sunday. Bradley had been listed as probable due to a knee injury, but will now likely start this weekend against the Lions. Bradley has 13 receptions for 142 yards through six games.

According to head coach Lovie Smith, Bradley will step into the Bears' starting lineup, beginning with this weekend's matchup with the Cleveland Browns. The rookie receiver, who was a second-round pick in this year's draft, will start opposite Muhsin Muhammad, replacing the struggling Justin Gage.

Bradley suffered a sprained right shoulder during Friday's exhibition game against the St. Louis Rams and was unable to practice with the Bears over the weekend. The rookie receiver, who was a second-round pick in this year's draft, currently is listed as day-to-day. He set a Hall of Fame game record with 131 yards on five receptions last Monday, increasing his chances of landing a prominent role in the Bears' passing attack this season.

The Bears signed Bradley to a five-year deal on Tuesday that reportedly contains a signing bonus of a little more than $2 million. The 39th overall pick in April's draft, Bradley played the past three seasons for Oklahoma. He likely will see most of his playing time on special teams in 2005, while slowly being worked into a few packages on offense.
