David Baas

8/1/2005

Just days after signing his first pro contract, Baas tore his hamstring while running and could be out of commission for as long as six weeks. The offensive lineman out of Michigan was the first pick in the second round of the 2005 draft, and the Niners anticipated that he would open the regular season as their starting right guard.

Baas has signed with the San Francisco 49ers, agreeing to a multiyear contract. The offensive lineman, who was the first pick of the second round in this year's NFL Draft out of Michigan, is expected to claim a spot in the Niners' starting lineup, likely at right guard.
