The Bengals released starting linebacker Kevin Hardy on Tuesday, likely signaling their intention to insert Pollack into the starting lineup as quickly as possible. A standout defensive end at Georgia, Pollack was the 17th overall pick in the 2005 draft. He set a UGA record with 36 career sacks, but Cincinnati intends to convert him into a pro linebacker.
