Carlos Rogers

Rogers is not on the Redskins' injury report this week, and he's expected to be available for Saturday's playoff matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The rookie cornerback, who was the ninth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, missed the last three games of the regular season with a torn biceps muscle, but reported no major problems after working out with the team on Thursday.

Rogers sprained ankle did not appear to be a problem as he returned to practice with the Washington Redskins on Monday, shortly after being activated from the physically unable to perform list. The rookie cornerback, who was the ninth overall pick in this year's draft, had been sidelined since severely spraining and bruising the ankle during a workout in June.

Rogers' sprained ankle continues to improve, and barring any setbacks, he should be cleared to resume practicing with the Redskins next week. The cornerback, who was the ninth overall pick in this year's draft, will not be in uniform for Saturday's exhibition tilt against the Carolina Panthers.

Rogers reached an agreement with the Redskins on Tuesday on a five-year deal that has a maximum value of $17.45 million, with $11.23 million in bonus money. He is expected to report to training camp on Tuesday, though a lingering ankle sprain will limit his participation in the early going. Washington selected Rogers out of Auburn with the ninth overall pick in this year's draft, after the cornerback spent four years with the Tigers.

Tests have revealed that Rogers has a stress fracture in his right foot, an injury suffered while working out on his own last month. The cornerback, who was the ninth overall pick in this year's draft, might miss part of training camp, but the Redskins believe he will be back to full strength by the start of the regular season.
