Todd France

12/20/2005

With Matt Bryant healthy again, France has been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The kicker filled in against the New Orleans Saints earlier this month while Bryant recovered from a hamstring injury, but he's been inactive the last two weeks. He will be replaced on the roster by tight end Will Heller.

France has been promoted from the Buccaneers' practice squad, and he will handle the team's kicking duties in Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints, replacing regular starter Matt Bryant, who is inactive with a hamstring injury.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added France to their practice squad, supplying them with some insurance in case regular kicker Matt Bryant is unable to recover from the minor hamstring injury he suffered last weekend. France appeared in three games with the Eagles earlier this season and hit six of his seven field-goal attempts and was perfect on five point-after tries.

Despite doing a solid job in the absence of regular kicker David Akers, France has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, opening a spot on the roster for Jose Cortez, who was claimed off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. In three games this season, France nailed six of his seven field-goal attempts and was perfect on five point-after tries.

Due to a torn hamstring, David Akers already has been ruled out of Sunday's meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. As a result, the Philadelphia Eagles will promote France from their practice squad and look to him to handle the team's kicking duties this weekend. He was in training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year, but lost out on a job to Matt Bryant.

The Philadelphia Eagles have added France to their practice squad, providing the team with insurance for Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders. Regular kicker David Akers currently is questionable with a strained hamstring.

Losing out to Matt Bryant in the battle to be Tampa Bay's placekicker, France was released by the Buccaneers on Saturday.
