The New York Giants have signed Kranchick off the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad, filling the roster spot of fellow tight end Sean Berton, who will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Kranchick has appeared in six games over the past two seasons, recording just one catch for six yards.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have promoted Kranchick from their practice squad, filling the roster spot of veteran Willie Williams, who was released by the team on Sunday. The tight end, who was a sixth-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, will serve as a backup to Heath Miller and Jerame Tuman.
