The Arizona Cardinals have promoted Smith from their practice squad, filling the roster spot of linebacker Gerald Hayes, who will miss the rest of the season with a left knee injury. The defensive end was with the club in training camp, but was cut just prior to the start of the regular season. He joined the practice squad shortly thereafter.
