Mewelde Moore

12/13/2005

Moore, who has been nursing ankle and quadriceps injuries over the past couple of weeks, has lost his job as the Vikings' starting tailback, according to head coach Mike Tice. The running back will compete with rookie Ciatrick Fason for backup duties behind Michael Bennett, and he'll also remain as the team's primary punt returner.

12/12/2005

Moore saw limited action in Sunday's win over the St. Louis Rams, posting just one rush and a single punt return -- he failed to gain any yardage on either -- along with one catch for seven yards. According to head coach Mike Tice, the running back was nursing a quadriceps injury, so the team decided to hand over the bulk of the rushing load to Michael Bennett.

12/8/2005

Limited to just one carry by a sprained right ankle in last weekend's win over the Detroit Lions, Moore was back in action with the Vikings on Wednesday, and he currently does not appear on the team's injury report. Barring any setbacks, he is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's battle with the St. Louis Rams.

12/5/2005

Moore started Sunday's matchup with the Detroit Lions, but sprained his right ankle early in the contest and was limited to just one carry -- a six-yard loss. The running back, who was replaced in the backfield by veteran Michael Bennett, will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

11/22/2005

As anticipated, Moore returned to the Vikings' starting backfield for Monday night's matchup with the Green Bay Packers after being limited to special-teams duties in the team's last game, due to a sprained right wrist. The running back looked to be fully recovered from the injury, rushing for 122 yards on 22 carries and adding two catches for 16 yards. He also averaged 8.0 yards on five punt returns.

11/18/2005

Moore got his regular reps in practice on Thursday and reported no problems with the right wrist he sprained nearly two weeks ago. The Vikings' running back, who was limited to special-teams duties last weekend as a precautionary measure, is slated to return to the starting backfield for Monday night's divisional matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

11/14/2005

The Minnesota Vikings decided to limit Moore to special-teams duties in Sunday's victory over the New York Giants, as they didn't want to risk him carrying the ball extensively with a sprained right wrist. The running back was replaced in the lineup by Michael Bennett, who picked up just 16 yards on 19 rushes, along with a lost fumble.

11/11/2005

Moore's sprained right wrist has improved over the past couple of days, and he has been practicing without any major problems this week, albeit with a protective brace on his hand. The Vikings' running back plans to be available for Sunday's matchup with the New York Giants, but since he's still a bit limited, it's likely that he will split carries with Michael Bennett.

11/7/2005

Moore played the majority of Sunday's win over the Detroit Lions with a sprained right wrist, an injury suffered in the first quarter. The Vikings' running back split carries with backup Michael Bennett until finally leaving the game for good in the fourth quarter. He finished with 49 yards on 11 carries, along with one catch for 26 yards.

9/26/2005

As expected, Moore got the starting nod for the Vikings in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, and he handled the majority of the touches out of the backfield. The running back, who had been limited over the first couple weeks of the season with an ankle injury, finished with 101 yards on 23 carries.

9/25/2005

Moore practiced primarily with the first string this week, and indications are that he will start at running back ahead of Michael Bennett today when the Vikings face the New Orleans Saints.

9/15/2005

Despite aggravating his sprained ankle when he was leg whipped on a special teams play in last weekend's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Moore has been able to work out with the Vikings over the past couple of days, and he does not show up on the team's injury report this week. He will be available for Sunday's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

9/12/2005

Moore was expected to see some time in the Vikings' backfield in Sunday's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, especially with starter Michael Bennett limited by a lingering neck injury. However, the backup running back did not record an offensive touch and actually aggravated his sprained ankle on a special teams play late in the game. Moore believes the injury is minor and he shouldn't miss much time.

9/11/2005

Despite playing on an ankle that is less than 100 percent, Moore will be relied upon to handle the bulk of the work out of the Vikings' backfield in Sunday's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, along with third-stringer Moe Williams. Michael Bennett had been slated to get the starting nod, but the team is still concerned about the neck injury he suffered last month and will limit his touches.

9/7/2005

Moore's sprained ankle has improved over the past week, and the Vikings expect the running back to be available for duty in Sunday's 2005 season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With starter Michael Bennett recovered from a sprained neck, Moore is slated to serve as the primary backup at tailback.

8/29/2005

The sprained ankle Moore suffered in last Friday's exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers is not serious, and the Vikings expect the running back to be ready for the start of the regular season. He will continue to receive treatment for the injury on a daily basis and likely will be held out of the team's preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday as a precautionary measure.

8/27/2005

Mewelde Moore exited the Vikings' game Friday night against the Chargers in the second quarter with a mildly sprained left ankle. Moore had rushed for 21 yards on six carries before exiting. While Moore downplayed the injury, the Vikings will reevaluate him on Saturday.
