A week after recording the longest play in NFL history, Vasher was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after the Bears 13-3 win over Carolina on Sunday. The Bears cornerback intercepted two passes, forced a fumble and made four tackles in the Bears sixth straight win.

In the closing moments of the first half of Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers, Vasher picked up a missed 52-yard field goal in the end zone and returned it 108 yards for a touchdown, recording the longest play in NFL history. The previous high was 107 yards by Baltimore's Chris McAlister in 2002.
