Alex Stepanovich
12/6/2005
Due to shoulder problem, Stepanovich has been placed on injured reserve by the Arizona Cardinals. The offensive lineman, who started nine games this season, will miss the remainder of the 2005 campaign. Linebacker Isaac Keys was re-signed to fill the void on the roster.

Stepanovich is expected to return to the Arizona Cardinals' starting lineup this week after recovering from surgery on his right (snapping) hand. The center missed the team's regular-season opener last week, but was replaced by Shawn Lynch, who was waived on Tuesday.

Stepanovich, who started all 16 games in 2004, has missed the last couple of weeks after undergoing surgery on his right (snapping) hand earlier this month. Barring any setbacks, the Cardinals' center should return to practice next week, but he might be forced to slide over to guard, at least until his hand has had a chance to fully heal.

According to Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, the team does not know when Stepanovich will be able to resume his duties as starting center, and there's a chance that he might not be ready for the start of the regular season. The offensive lineman, who started all 16 games in 2004, will not be able to practice for at least a couple of weeks after undergoing surgery on his right (snapping) hand last week.
