Johnson is recovering Friday from surgery to repair a torn quadriceps muscle, an injury that could sideline him for at least four months.

According to a report in The Chicago Tribune, Johnson was arrested early Saturday morning after police found a loaded handgun in his truck. The defensive tackle was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison. Johnson's attorney, Elliot Zinger, said his client simply made a mistake and was "from another state and not familiar with what's going on here [in Illinois]."
