Kevin Jones

12/30/2005

After practicing with the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Jones said he'd be ready and available for Sunday's season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The running back, who has not played since hyperextending his elbow against Green Bay on Dec. 11, continues to be listed as questionable on the injury report and likely will be a game-time decision. For the season, Jones has 586 yards and five touchdowns on 168 carries in 12 contests.

12/28/2005

Jones, who has not played since hyperextending his elbow against Green Bay on Dec. 11, did not practice with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, and he's currently listed as questionable for Sunday's season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The running back was able to work out with the team on a limited basis last week, but was held out when game time rolled around on Saturday.

12/24/2005

Although Jones was able to practice in a limited fashion, the back was inactive Saturday when the Lions took on the New Orleans Saints. Jones has not played since hyperextending his elbow against Green Bay on Dec. 11.

12/22/2005

Even though he's listed as questionable on the Lions' injury report this week, it appears unlikely that Jones will be available to play in Saturday's meeting with the New Orleans Saints. The running back has been sidelined since hyperextending his elbow in a game against the Packers nearly two weeks ago. He did not practice on Wednesday.

12/18/2005

Jones is inactive for Sunday's game against Cincinnati with a hyperextended elbow. The Lions' running back had been listed as doubtful this week.

12/15/2005

Jones has yet to be ruled out officially, but at this point, it appears that he will be unavailable for Sunday's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Lions' running back missed Week 13 with a quadriceps injury, but was able to return last weekend, only to leave with a hyperextended elbow. He has been listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.

12/13/2005

Jones was unable to play in Week 13, due to a bruised quadriceps muscle, but he was back in the Lions' starting lineup for last Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers. However, after rushing for 63 yards on nine carries, the running back was unable to return to the field because of a hyperextended elbow. The new ailment reportedly is significant and is expected to keep him out of this weekend's meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals.

12/7/2005

Jones does not appear on the Detroit Lions' injury report this week, and barring any setbacks, he is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The running back missed last weekend's loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a quadriceps injury, but reported no problems after practicing with the team on Wednesday.

12/4/2005

The quadriceps injury that Jones suffered in practice last week will prevent him from playing in Sunday's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions' running back first reported discomfort on Thursday and was unable to work out with the team on Friday. He is listed as day-to-day. For the season, Jones has 523 yards and five touchdowns on 159 carries.

12/3/2005

Jones has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings after his quad injury flared up in practice. If Jones cannot go, look for Shawn Bryson to start at RB for the Lions.

12/2/2005

According to offensive coordinator Greg Olson, the Lions plan to get Jones more involved in the offensive attack the rest of the season. Under head coach Steve Mariucci, who was fired on Monday, the running back averaged 14.45 carries over the first 11 games of the 2005 campaign. Olson has indicated that 20-30 rushes per contest would not be out of the question going forward. For the season, Jones has 523 yards and five touchdowns on 159 carries.

12/1/2005

A sore quadriceps muscle limited Jones' work in the Lions' practice on Wednesday, but the move was considered precautionary. The running back currently is listed as probable on the team's injury report, and he plans to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

11/10/2005

Despite nursing a triceps strain in one arm and a bruised nerve in the other, Jones is not listed on the Lions' injury report this week, and he is expected to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. The ailments limited the running back to just 15 yards on seven carries last weekend.

11/8/2005

Jones' status for Sunday's matchup with the Arizona Cardinals is currently up in the air after tests revealed a triceps ailment in one of his arms and a bruised nerve in the other. The Lions' running back, who was knocked out of last weekend's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, will be re-evaluated later this week. He has 381 yards and four touchdowns on 129 carries, as well as 13 catches for 48 yards in eight games this season.

11/7/2005

Jones injured his right shoulder on Sunday and was forced to leave the game against the Vikings in the second quarter. He finished the game with only seven rushes for 15 yards and one catch for eight yards. Artose Pinner and Shawn Bryson replaced Jones in the backfield.

10/23/2005

Jones is expected to start for the Lions on Sunday against the Browns. The running back has been limited in practice this week due to a shoulder injury, but he will wear a harness to protect the area.

10/20/2005

Jones was able to work out with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, but was limited to non-contact drills, as he recovers from a bruised left shoulder. The running back, who was able to return to the lineup after suffering the injury in last weekend's loss to the Carolina Panthers, has been listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

10/17/2005

Jones temporarily was knocked out of Sunday's meeting with the Carolina Panthers, due to a bruised shoulder. He was able to return later in the game, but failed to do much all day. The Lions' running back finished with just 21 yards on 12 carries.

10/10/2005

Jones pounded into the tough Baltimore defense 26 times in Sunday's 35-17 victory over the Ravens, picking up 58 yards -- just a 2.2 yard average. However, the Lions' running back made up for his lack of yardage by scoring two touchdowns in the game.

9/2/2005

After not practicing with the Lions this week because of a sore ankle, Jones likely won't be in the lineup for Friday's preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. The ailment is considered minor, and the team is just being extra cautious with their top tailback.
