During an arthroscopic procedure earlier this week, doctors discovered more damage in Udeze's ailing left knee than was anticipated originally. As a result, the Vikings' defensive end reportedly will be unavailable for the rest of the 2005 campaign, and he'll likely be placed on injured reserve in the near future.

After further consideration on Friday, the Vikings have ruled Udeze out of Sunday's meeting with the Atlanta Falcons. The defensive end continues to be bothered by swelling and soreness in his left knee, and he is scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future, likely sidelining him for at least a couple of weeks. He began the week as questionable, but was downgraded after the knee showed no improvement.
