Michael Clayton
8/17/2006
The Tampa Tribune reported that Clayton lost 10 pounds over the offseason and has declared himself healthy for the Buccaneers. The wide receiver was hampered a shoulder, knee and turf toe injuries last season that limited him to 32 catches and 372 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games.
1/3/2006
Clayton continues to be hobbled by a turf toe injury, and he will not be available for Saturday's Wild Card matchup with the Washington Redskins. The receiver, who might not see any more action this season, will be replaced in the starting lineup by veteran Ike Hilliard.
12/27/2005
Clayton will not be available for Sunday's regular-season finale against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a turf toe injury in last weekend's win over the Atlanta Falcons. According to Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden, the ailment could force the second-year receiver to miss most, if not all, of the upcoming playoffs as well. Veteran Ike Hilliard will step into the starting lineup opposite Joey Galloway in his absence.
11/17/2005
As he had hoped, Clayton worked out with the Buccaneers on Wednesday and reported no major problems with his bruised right knee. The receiver plans to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's meeting with the Atlanta Falcons following a one-game absence. Clayton has been a bit of a disappointment this season after topping the 1,000-yard mark in his rookie campaign. Through eight games, he's hauled in 25 passes for 275 yards, but he has yet to find the end zone.
11/15/2005
On Monday, Clayton reported significant improvement in his bruised right knee. Barring any setbacks, the second-year receiver will return to practice with the Buccaneers later this week in preparation for Sunday's meeting with the Atlanta Falcons. Veteran Ike Hilliard got the starting nod in his absence last weekend.
11/14/2005
After missing practice much of the week because of a bruised right knee, Clayton was inactive for Sunday's battle with the Washington Redskins. In the receiver's absence, veteran Ike Hilliard got the starting nod for the Buccaneers, opposite Joey Galloway.
11/11/2005
Clayton continues to be sidelined after bruising his right knee in the first quarter of last weekend's loss to the Carolina Panthers, and he's been unable to practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers all week. Officially listed as questionable on the injury report, it does not appear that the receiver will be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Washington Redskins, barring a very quick recovery.
11/9/2005
Nursing a sore knee, Clayton did not practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. The receiver hopes to return to the field over the next couple of days and be ready for Sunday's meeting with the Washington Redskins. He has been listed as questionable for the contest.
10/9/2005
Although he still has some lingering soreness in his bruised shoulder, Clayton will be in the Buccaneers' starting lineup when the team takes the field against the New York Jets on Sunday. As a precautionary measure, the receiver was limited in practice this week and showed up as probable on the injury report.
10/3/2005
Clayton likely will be limited in practice early this week after suffering a bruised shoulder in Sunday's victory over the Detroit Lions. Although the Buccaneers' receiver was able to play through the injury, he finished the game with just two catches for 11 yards. For the year, he has 17 receptions for 196 yards, but has yet to find the end zone.
7/31/2005
Clayton had been listed as questionable heading into training camp, but Buccaneer head coach John Gruden has confirmed that Clayton should be ready for the remainder of camp. Clayton will team with Joey Galloway as the starting wide receiver core for Tampa Bay. In his rookie season, Clayton caught 80 passes for 1,193 yards.
6/16/2005
Clayton will not participate in the Buccaneers' minicamp next week as he continues to rest and rehab his surgically repaired left knee. The second-year wideout underwent arthroscopic surgery in February to repair torn cartilage. He reportedly has begun running routes and catching passes, but the team does not want to take any chances with the knee in contact drills at this time. Clayton exploded on the scene last year, catching 80 passes for 1,193 yards and seven scores.
