Tony Romo
8/31/2005
Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells has not officially indicated who will serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind starter Drew Bledsoe this season, but all signs point to Romo claiming the job. His main competition, Drew Henson, did not play in the Cowboys' last preseason contest, while Romo was under center the majority of the second half.

The Cowboys signed Romo to a two-year contract worth a reported $1.9 million on Friday. The quarterback received a $300,000 signing bonus. Romo's base salary for 2005 will be $380,000. He was the team's lone remaining exclusive rights free agent, and this deal allows the Cowboys to avoid seeing him become a restricted free agent after this season.
