Ken Dorsey

5/5/2006

Cleveland acquired Dorsey on Thursday along with a 2007 seventh-round draft pick in a trade that sent Trent Dilfer to San Francisco. Dorsey started 10 games over the last two seasons for the 49ers, including three in 2005. The 25-year-old quarterback has completed 54.1 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions during his career.

Dorsey will drop down to No. 2 on the 49ers' depth chart, as the team will hand the starting quarterback job back to No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, Alex Smith. Dorsey has handled the signal-calling duties for San Francisco in three games this season, going 48 of 90 for 481 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

After being limited for the last couple of weeks by a sprained ankle, Dorsey will be back under center when the San Francisco 49ers take the field against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. With regular starter Alex Smith still recovering from a knee injury and Cody Pickett struggling in the top role, the team has decided to give Dorsey the nod for the second time this season.

11/10/2005

Dorsey's sprained ankle still is not 100 percent, according to 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, but he should be available for backup duty in Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears. With regular starter Alex Smith expected to miss his third consecutive game with a strained knee, Cody Pickett will get the nod this weekend.

11/3/2005

Dorsey won't be in the 49ers' starting lineup this weekend, but his sprained ankle has shown enough improvement over the past couple of days that he is optimistic that he'll be available for backup duty, if needed. With regular starter Alex Smith out with a knee injury, Cody Pickett is scheduled to get the nod on Sunday.

10/31/2005

Dorsey, getting the starting nod in place of the injured Alex Smith, was unable to return to the 49ers' lineup after spraining his left ankle in the second half of Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The quarterback was on crutches after the game and is considered doubtful for next weekend's matchup with the New York Giants, according to head coach Mike Nolan.

10/27/2005

According to 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, Dorsey will get the nod in Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as regular starter Alex Smith continues to be sidelined with a sprained and swollen right knee. A seventh-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, Dorsey has yet to play this season. Last year, he appeared in nine contests, going 123 of 226 for 1,231 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions.
