Doug Gabriel
11/22/2005
Gabriel is scheduled to undergo precautionary tests early this week to determine the extent of the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Washington Redskins. At this point, the ailment is considered only a sprain, and the Raiders are optimistic that the receiver will not miss much time. His status will be updated in the coming days.
10/24/2005
As anticipated, Gabriel saw more reps in Sunday's matchup with the Buffalo Bills, due to regular starter Randy Moss being limited by a trio of injuries. The receiver took advantage of the added playing time, hauling in five passes for a career-high 101 yards.

With Randy Moss unlikely to play in Sunday's matchup with the Buffalo Bills, Gabriel will step into the Raiders' starting lineup opposite Jerry Porter. Serving as the team's No. 3 receiver since Ronald Curry went down early in the season, Gabriel has hauled in seven passes for 119 yards and one touchdown in three games.

Making his 2005 debut, Gabriel hauled in two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Raiders' receiver underwent surgery to repair a dislocated middle finger on his left hand late last month, and the team had been working him back in slowly.

Curry has been practicing with the Oakland Raiders this week, and barring any setbacks, he will make his 2005 debut in Sunday's meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles. The receiver underwent surgery to repair a dislocated middle finger on his left hand late last month, and the team has been working him back in slowly. With Ronald Curry expected to miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, Gabriel is the top candidate to fill the Raiders' No. 3 wideout role.

According to Raiders head coach Norv Turner, Gabriel should be back to full speed shortly, but he has yet to receive clearance from team doctors. The receiver, who underwent surgery to repair a dislocated middle finger on his left hand late last month, has been running routes and catching a few passes in practice this week, but isn't quite ready for game action. He'll be re-evaluated over the next couple of days to determine if he can play this weekend.

Raiders wideout Doug Gabriel may be forced to miss a month after having surgery on his dislocated left middle finger Thursday. Gabriel, who caught 33 passes for 551 yards and two touchdowns last season, suffered the injury during training camp.
