Chris Simms
3/1/2006
Simms signed a one-year contract to return to the Buccaneers. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. He was two days away from becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Simms threw for 198 yards on 25 of 38 passing but was intercepted twice and sacked three times in Saturday's 17-10 Wild-Card loss to the Redskins. The Buccaneers' quarterback rushed for a two-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

The sprained thumb on Simms' throwing hand was still a bit sore on Tuesday, but the quarterback was able to practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as normal. Simms, who was sacked seven times in last weekend's loss to the New England Patriots, said he will be under center when the team takes the field against the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday.
11/14/2005
Simms had the best game of his career on Sunday throwing for career highs of 279 yards and three touchdowns as he led the Buccaneers to a win over the Redskins. It was also the first time he was not sacked in a game in five career starts after going down 16 times in his previous four starts.

With starter Brian Griese landing on injured reserve, Simms takes over as the Buccaneers' quarterback. He came on in the second quarter when Griese went down in the Bucs' 23-16 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, completing six of 10 passes for 69 yards.
