Gerald Hayes

10/6/2005

Hayes has been slow to recover from arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage and meniscus damage in his knee, prompting the Arizona Cardinals to place him on injured reserve. The linebacker, who has been sidelined since hurting the knee in a preseason meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, will miss the rest of the 2005 campaign.

Initially, the Cardinals had hoped that Hayes would miss just a couple of weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage and meniscus damage in his knee. However, following the procedure, the linebacker has been ruled out for at least eight weeks, according to head coach Dennis Green.

Hayes has cartilage and meniscus damage in his knee and will be forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery in the next couple of days. The Cardinals' linebacker, who suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's exhibition win over the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, according to head coach Dennis Green. A better timetable for his return will be determined after the procedure.
