Taylor Jacobs

11/18/2005

According to head coach Joe Gibbs, Jacobs is slated to step into the Redskins' starting lineup, beginning with this week's matchup with the Oakland Raiders. The third-year receiver claims the spot normally filled by David Patten, who is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery and miss at least a couple of weeks.

Still not quite fully recovered from a broken left big toe, Jacobs will be inactive for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears. The Redskins' reserve receiver has been practicing with the team over the past several days and should be available for Week 2. On Monday, Jacobs declared that he was about 80 percent.

For the first time in nearly a month, Jacobs took part in a full practice with the Washington Redskins on Monday, and he is optimisitic that he'll be ready for this weekend's regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears. The receiver has been sidelined with a broken left big toe.

Taylor's ailing toe continues to give him problems when making cuts, and it's unlikely that he will be available for the Redskins' preseason finale on Thursday. The receiver, who suffered the injury more than three weeks ago, hopes improvement is shown over the next couple of weeks so he can be ready for the start of the regular season.

Jacobs is no longer sporting a walking boot on his right foot and he's resumed light running on his own. However, the receiver, who has been sidelined with a sprained big toe, is still about a week away from returning to full-speed practice with the Redskins. He had 16 catches for 178 yards in 15 games last season.

An MRI on Jacobs sprained big toe revealed no major damage, but the Redskins' receiver has been sporting a walking boot for the better part of a week as a precautionary measure. Jacobs, who suffered the injury during last Saturday's scrimmage against the Baltimore Ravens, hopes to return to action next week. He will miss Saturday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

Jacobs sprained a toe on his left foot during Saturday's scrimmage against the Baltimore Ravens. The Washington wide receiver will undergo an MRI exam on Sunday, but he's expected to miss at least a week.
