Eric Parker

4/7/2006

Parker agreed to a new five-year contract with San Diego on Thursday. The Chargers' wide receiver had been under contract through this season, but the deal was torn up as part of the new contract.

Although he was listed as doubtful last week, Parker played against the Chiefs and caught four catches for 33 yards. The Chargers' receiver is listed as questionable for Saturday's finale against the Broncos, but is expecting to play. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Parker needs four catches to average 50 receptions over the last two seasons. That would increase the $545,000 he is scheduled to receive next season by $500,000.

Barring a quick recovery, Parker is not expected to be ready for Saturday's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs after spraining his foot in a win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend. The Chargers' receiver, who normally lines up opposite fellow wideout Keenan McCardell, currently is listed as doubtful.

Parker was unable to practice with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday after aggravating his sprained ankle the previous day. According to head coach Marty Schottenheimer, the injury is not serious, and the receiver should be in the lineup for Sunday's meeting with the New York Jets. Officially, Parker is listed as questionable.

Parker did not practice with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday to rest his sore back and sprained ankle. However, the receiver was back on the field Thursday, as he had hoped, and he should be available for Sunday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. He remains listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

After spraining his ankle in last Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders, Parker has landed on the Chargers' injury report as questionable. The receiver, who recently has been nursing a sore back as well, did not practice with the Chargers on Wednesday, but hopes to return to the field within the next couple of days.

Limited in practice this week by a sore back, Parker has landed on the Chargers injury report as probable for Sunday's meeting with the Oakland Raiders. However, the injury is considered minor at this point, and the receiver is expected to be in the starting lineup, barring any last-minute setbacks.
