Chad Hutchinson
8/30/2005
Shortly after being demoted from starter to fourth on the depth chart, Hutchinson has been released by the Chicago Bears. In two exhibition game starts after Rex Grossman went down with a season-ending ankle injury, Hutchinson completed just eight of his 22 pass attempts, tossed four interceptions and was sacked six times.

Not only has Hutchinson lost the Bears' starting quarterback job, but he's slipped to fourth on the depth chart and is in danger of being cut. The veteran signal caller has struggled in the Bears' preseason contests, prompting the team to turn rookie Kyle Orton. Veteran Jeff Blake currently is listed as Orton's top backup with Kurt Kittner penciled in at No. 3.

Hutchinson will take over as the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback after top signal caller Rex Grossman broke his left ankle in Friday's preseason meeting with the St. Louis Rams. In five games last season, Hutchinson went 92 of 161 for 903 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He was sacked 23 times and fumbled eight times, losing four.
