Putzier was released by the Broncos in an effort for the team to get under the salary cap for the upcoming season. He was joined by running back Mike Anderson and Trevor Pryce as the three players released by the Broncos.

Officially listed as probable on the Broncos' injury report, Putzier is expected to be in the lineup for this weekend's playoff battle with the New England Patriots. The tight end, who has been battling a shoulder problem, practiced with the team on Thursday without incident.
