Heitmann has inked a four-year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers. The offensive lineman, who was a seventh-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, started every game at left guard last season. He is expected to claim the job again in 2005, but could also see time at center if Jeremy Newberry is slow to recover from offseason knee surgery.
