Ronald Curry
9/20/2005
Tests have revealed that Curry suffered a re-tear of his Achilles tendon in only the second regular-season game back from the same injury last year. He will be placed on injured reserve and miss the rest of the 2005 campaign. After eight months of rehabilitation, Curry returned and had a strong preseason camp to secure the No. 3 receiver's job for Oakland behind Randy Moss and Jerry Porter, but only caught two passes for 12 yards in two games this year before the injury.

Curry will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the right calf injury he suffered late in Sunday night's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The receiver has been recovering after tearing the Achilles tendon in the same leg last season, but he does not feel that the new ailment is the same problem.

Curry is not listed on the Raiders' injury report this week, and he is slated to serve as the No. 3 receiver in Thursday's regular-season opener against the New England Patriots. The Raiders are going to be cautious with Curry early on this season, as they don't think he is quite ready to see starters reps. He has been recovering from offseason surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon.

The Oakland Raiders plan to welcome Curry back into the receiver rotation when they take the field against the Arizona Cardinals in an exhibition contest later this week. The wideout has been sidelined while recovering from offseason surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon.

Curry likely won't see game action until the Raiders' third preseason contest, as he continues to recover from offseason surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon. If the receiver continues to progress on schedule, he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Curry, who has spent the offseason recovering from surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, currently is running at full speed, according to Raiders coach Norv Turner. The receiver likely will be limited early in camp as a precautionary measure, but barring any setbacks, he'll be ready for the start of the regular season.
