Andre Lott

4/18/2006

Lott signed a two-year contract with San Diego on Monday. The 26-year-old safety has been plagued by injuries which have limited him to just four games over the last two seasons. Lott was released by Washington before the start of last season after suffering a knee injury. He started three games in 2004 before sustaining a season-ending pectoral injury.

The Redskins released Lott on Saturday after coming to an injury settlement with the defensive back. Lott suffered a hairline fracture of his tibia on the last day of the team's minicamp in June, but had been expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Lott hyperextended his knee during the Washington Redskins' mini-camp over the weekend, and further tests have revealed a hairline fracture just below the joint. The safety will be on crutches for about four weeks, but the team does not expect him to miss much, if any, of training camp.
