Ben Leber

11/30/2005

Leber will be forced to undergo surgery to correct the foot problem that has prevented him from playing in the Chargers' last two games. As a result, the linebacker has been placed on injured reserve by the club, officially bringing his 2005 campaign to an end. He finishes the season with 22 tackles and two sacks in nine contests.

Leber is expected to be sidelined for up to two weeks as he recovers from arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle. The incumbent starter at strong-side linebacker for the Chargers, Leber underwent the procedure to remove a bone spur on Tuesday. He has played in all 48 regular-season games for San Diego since the team drafted him in the third round in 2002, starting 46 of those contests. He has logged 10 sacks, but has yet to record an interception as a pro.
