Maurice Morris
10/17/2005
Seahawks starter Shaun Alexander rushed for 141 yards and four scores in Sunday's win over the Houston Texans, but Morris figured into the mix as well, picking up a career-high 104 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. It was the first 100-yard outing for the backup running back in his four NFL seasons. His previous best was 72 yards in a game against the Arizona Cardinals in 2002.

After missing some practice time and the Seahawks' final two preseason games with a strained hamstring, Morris was back on the field with the team during Monday's workouts. The running back plans to be available for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his role likely will be limited.

According to Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren, the Seahawks plan to hold Morris out of the team's final two preseason contests, as the running back continues to be hobbled by a strained hamstring. Morris will continue to receive treatment on the leg in hopes of being ready for the start of the regular season.
