Williams injured his knee on Saturday during practice. The Vikings strong safety had to be carted off the field after backpedaling during a seven-on-seven passing drill. He did not make contact with anyone, but fell to the ground after planting his left leg.

Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress said Sunday Williams will need to undergo season-ending surgery on a fractured kneecap. The Vikings strong safety suffered the injury during Saturday's practice. Williams started 57 games in four seasons with the Tennessee Titans before signing as a free agent with Minnesota in March.
