Toniu Fonoti
12/4/2005
Fonoti, who was acquired in a trade with the San Diego Chargers in October, has been placed on injured reserve by the Minnesota Vikings, ending his 2005 campaign. The offensive lineman will miss the rest of the season with a severely strained groin. Defensive end Eric Taylor was promoted from the practice squad to fill the void on the roster.
10/19/2005
Fonoti was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in return for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. Drafted in the second round in 2002 by the San Diego Chargers, he had made 32 starts in 33 games before being sidelined with a broken hand in the team's second game this year.

Fonoti's broken right hand continues to give him problems, and he will be forced to undergo another surgery. The Chargers' left guard, who has missed the team's last two games after having a plate inserted into the hand, is expected to be sidelined for at least another couple of weeks.

Fonoti likely will not be available for Sunday's game against New York Giants after having a plate surgically inserted into his broken right hand on Wednesday. The Chargers' offensive lineman suffered the injury during practice last week.
9/17/2005
After breaking his right hand earlier in the week, Fonoti returned to practice Friday wearing a huge cast on his arm. He is expected to start at his regular left guard spot when the Chargers face the Denver Broncos Sunday.
6/13/2005
Fonoti reported to Chargers' minicamp on Saturday, telling the team that "personal business" was the reason he missed Friday's mandatory session. The guard also was unable to practice on either Saturday or Sunday due to a badly swollen left ankle that was the result of a spider bite. Fonoti also missed last year's minicamp, and he raised some ire when he was a day late to report to training camp.
6/11/2005
Fonoti surprised the San Diego Chargers by failing to show up for the first day of the team's minicamp on Friday. Chargers' coach Marty Schottenheimer claims the team had been informed by Fonoti's agent that the offensive lineman would be in camp. Steve Feldman refused to say why his client was a no-show on Friday, but said Fonoti would be there on Saturday.
