DeShaun Foster

6/1/2006

Foster practiced with the Panthers on the first day of minicamp on Wednesday, showing no ill effects from a broken ankle injury that caused him to miss the NFC championship game last season. The injury-prone running back is ready to keep his starting job, even though Carolina drafted DeAngelo Williams in the first round in April.

3/11/2006

Foster agreed to a three-year, $14.5 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. The running back's deal was completed about an hour before the start of free agency and removed the transition tag the Panthers had placed on him two weeks earlier.

2/24/2006

The Carolina Panthers designated Foster their transition player late Thursday, projecting the running back's salary to $5.13 million for 2006. The Panthers do have the option of revoking the transition tag should they choose to pursue another player.

1/15/2006

Foster suffered a fractured right ankle in Carolina's 29-21 playoff win over the Chicago Bears Sunday. The Panthers' top rusher with 879 yards this season, Foster will not be a part of Carolina's push to reach the Super Bowl on Feb. 5, and the team will look to Nick Goings to fill the void. Foster suffered the injury during the third quarter, when his leg was twisted on a tackle by Chicago linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer.

1/11/2006

As has been the case the past couple of weeks, Foster did not practice with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, so he could rest his sore toe. The running back officially is listed as questionable on the team's injury report, but he plans to work out with the club on Thursday and be in the starting lineup for Sunday's playoff battle with the Chicago Bears.

1/8/2006

Foster rushed for 151 yards on 27 carries in Sunday's 23-0 playoff win over the New York Giants. The Panthers' running back has been plagued with a toe injury, but didn't seem bothered as he ran for his second-highest yardage total of the season. His performance came one week after rushing for a season-high 165 yards in the Panthers' regular-season finale against the Falcons.

1/7/2006

The New York Daily News reported Foster returned to practice Thursday, Jan. 5, after missing th previous day's practice with a toe injury. The Panthers' running back is listed as questionable for their playoff game Jan. 8 against the New York Giants.

1/5/2006

Foster reported no major problems with his troublesome toe after returning to practice with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. The running back, who was held out of Wednesday's workout as a precautionary measure, plans to be ready for Sunday's playoff game against the New York Giants. He continues to be listed as questionable on the injury report.

1/4/2006

As was the case last week, Foster was held out of practice on Wednesday to rest his jammed big toe. The ailiment currently has the running back listed as questionable for Sunday's playoff game against the New York Giants, but as long as the toe doesn't get any worse over the next couple of days, Foster will be in the Panthers' starting lineup.

1/1/2006

Foster is expected to be ready to play Sunday, despite a toe injury, as the Carolina Panthers' season is on the line. The Panthers must win in Atlanta Sunday to advance to the NFC playoffs. Foster has carried the ball 187 times for 714 yards and a touchdown this season.

12/29/2005

Although he missed Wednesday's practice, Foster said he was sure he would play against the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers running back has rushed for 714 yards and one touchdown on 187 carries, and also has 372 receiving yards on 34 receptions. He has started the last three weeks, and in the last four weeks Foster has rushed for 320 yards.

12/28/2005

Nursing a sore toe, Foster did not practice with the Carolina Panthers on Wendesday. The running back, who rushed for 68 yards on 22 carries in last weekend's loss to the Dallas Cowboys, currently is listed as questionable for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Atlanta Falcons, but vowed to be ready for the contest.

12/14/2005

Foster reported no problems with his shoulder after practicing with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, and he expects to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints. The running back, who officially is listed as probable, was a bit limited after suffering a stinger in last weekend's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

12/12/2005

Taking over as the Panthers' starting tailback, Foster was a bit limited in Sunday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering a shoulder stinger. Following the contest, the running back said the injury is not considered serious, and he plans to be ready for next weekend's tussle with the New Orleans Saints. He finished the game with 46 yards on 14 carris, along with two catches for two yards.

12/8/2005

Despite coming off the bench, Foster has handled the bulk of the Panthers' rushing load the past couple of weeks. Now, the running back will step into the starting lineup beginning with Sunday's tussle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, replacing veteran Stephen Davis, who announced the change on Thursday. In a win over Atlanta last weekend, Foster rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries and also added three catches for 49 yards and a score.

12/4/2005

Foster ran for 131 yards and scored two touchdowns -- one rushing, one receiving -- in the Panthers' win over the Falcons on Sunday. This is Foster's second career 100-yard rushing game.

11/27/2005

ESPN is reporting that Foster will be on the field when the Carolina Panthers play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. Returning from a knee injury, Foster practiced on Friday and looked ready to go. He has 320 yards on 84 carries this season for the Panthers. He hasn't found the end zone.

11/25/2005

The Charlotte Observer reported Foster returned to practice Friday and has been upgraded from questionable to probable for Sunday's game against Buffalo. Foster has had knee problems and been forced to split time at running back with veteran Stephen Davis.

11/23/2005

According to head coach John Fox, the Panthers plan to give Foster more touches over the last several weeks of the season. The running back has been splitting time with veteran Stephen Davis, rushing for 320 yards on 84 carries and hauling in 21 passes for 275 yards.

10/26/2005

After missing more than two weeks with a sprained and bruised knee, Foster returned to practice with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday and reported no major problems following the workout. The running back currently is listed as questionable on the injury report, but the team is optimistic that he'll be available for Sunday's tussle with the Minnesota Vikings.

10/18/2005

As expected, Foster was unable to play in Sunday's victory over the Detroit Lions, due to the sprained and bruised knee that prevented him from practicing with the Carolina Panthers all last week. The running back has shown improvement, however, and with a bye this week, the team is confident he will be ready when they resume play in Week 8.

10/14/2005

Foster missed his second consecutive workout on Thursday, sitting out to rest his sprained knee. If the running back is unable to take the field with the Panthers on Friday, it is likely that he will be unavailable for Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Lions. Currently, he is listed as questionable on the Panthers' injury report.

10/12/2005

Foster is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Detroit Lions, due to an undisclosed knee injury. The Panthers' reserve running back did not practice with the team on Wednesday and did not indicated what exactly is wrong with his knee. His status will be updated in the coming days. In five games this season, Foster has rushed for 185 yards on 41 carries and also hauled in 12 passes for 188 yards.
