Javon Walker
5/11/2006
Walker signed a one-year, $2.15 million contract with the Broncos on Wednesday. The deal could become six years and over $42 million, if Walker can regain his 2004 Pro Bowl form, where he caught 89 passes for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns with the Green Bay Packers.

Walker was dealt to Denver on Saturday in exchange for the Broncos' second-round draft pick. The wide receiver had grown disgruntled in Green Bay and had vowed to never play again for the Packers after they refused to redo his contract.

Walker might be in for another story-filled offseason as the wide receiver did not show up Wednesday for Green Bay's offseason program. Walker has threatened to hold out and has sought a trade. Walker suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Packers' season-opener last season.

Walker suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Lions and is out for the season. The injury occurred after Walker hauled in a 55-yard pass and was tackled at the Detroit three-yard line. However, the play was called back because of an offensive pass interference penalty on Walker. Before leaving the game, the Packers' wide receiver had four catches for 27 yards.

Javon Walker will have precautionary X-rays taken after dislocating a finger during Friday night's preseason game against the Patriots.

Walker felt something pull in his hamstring while running during the Packers' practice Sunday night and was forced to miss the rest of the workout. The receiver, who had his leg heavily wrapped in ice, said he didn't think the injury was serious, and the move to come out was a precautionary measure. He'll be re-evaluated on Monday.

After his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, indicated all offseason that he wouldn't report for training camp unless he got a new contract, Walker joined the Green Bay Packers late Wednesday. The receiver still has two years remaining on his current deal and is slated to earn about $515,000 this season. Reportedly, Rosenhaus continues to negotiate with the club on a possible new deal.
