A.J. Feeley

10/18/2005

The Miami Dolphins have traded Feeley to the San Diego Chargers in exchange for quarterback Cleo Lemon and an undisclosed draft pick. Feeley battled Gus Frerotte for the Dolphins' starting job in training camp, but lost the battle and has yet to appear in a game this season. Last year, in his first campaign with Miami, the signal caller went 191 of 356 for 1,893 yards, 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Feeley has slipped to third string on the Dolphins' depth chart, behind Gus Frerotte and Sage Rosenfels. Feeley started eight games at quarterback for Miami in 2004,but struggled badly this preseason.

Following a hit from Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher early in Monday's preseason game against the Bears, Feeley was forced to leave the contest. The Dolphins' quarterback, who was 4 of 7 for 35 yards prior to his departure, suffered a bruised buttocks and tweaked his ankle -- neither injury is considered serious. He was replaced under center by Gus Frerotte.
