Alex Bannister

Bannister agreed to a one-year contract with Chicago on Wednesday. The special teams standout spent five years with the Seattle Seahawks, making the Pro Bowl following the 2003 season. As a wide receiver, he caught just nine passes for 121 yards.

Expected to miss at least a couple of months after breaking his right collarbone for the third time in less than a year, Bannister has been placed on injured reserve by the Seattle Seahawks, officially ending his 2005 campaign. The receiver's most recent injury occurred in Sunday's win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Further tests have revealed that Bannister has a crack in his right collarbone, the third time in the last year that he has suffered the same injury. The Seahawks' receiver, who went down in Sunday's win over the Atlanta Falcons, is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple of months.

Bannister was unable to return to the Seahawks lineup after injuring his right collarbone in Sunday's win over the Atlanta Falcons. The receiver broke the same bone last season and missed the final nine games of the 2004 campaign, then suffered another fracture during a minicamp earlier this year.

Bannister suffered a broken collarbone in Seahawks' minicamp on Wednesday when he collided with a teammate during a special teams drill. It was the same injury that the fifth-year receiver suffered last fall that forced him to miss the final nine games of the regular season. He likely will miss most of training camp, but he is expected to be ready for Seattle's season opener against the Jaguars on September 11.
