Brandon Manumaleuna

4/30/2006

Manumaleuna was obtained by San Diego from St. Louis on Sunday in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. The 26-year-old tight end started 14 games last season but caught just 13 passes for 129 yards. He was a fourth-round draft pick in 2001 by the Rams.

Sidelined since Week 3 with a sore knee, Manumaleuna returned to practice with the St. Louis Rams this week and has been working out with the first-team offense. The tight end plans to be in the lineup for Monday night's matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Rams head coach Mike Martz does not want to take any chances with Manumaleuna's sore knee and has decided to keep him out of action for at least one more week. The tight end, who has been sidelined since Week 3, has just two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown this season. He primarly serves as a blocker in the Rams' offensive attack.

Manumaleuna got some work in with the Rams' scout team during Thursday's practice, but reportedly, head coach Mike Martz plans to keep him out of the lineup for at least one more week. The tight end, who has not played since Week 3 because of a sore knee, currently is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Manumaleuna's knee was still too sore on Sunday, prompting the Rams to add him to their inactive list for a meeting with the New York Giants. In his absence, Roland Williams filled in at tight end, while Madison Hedgecock handled the fullback duties. Manumaleuna has been listed as day-to-day.
