Edgerton Hartwell
10/12/2005
Tests have confirmed that Hartwell indeed has a torn Achilles tendon, an injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots. The Falcons have placed the starting linebacker on injured reserve, officially putting an end to his 2005 season. Ike Reese is slated to fill the void in the lineup going forward.

Hartwell is likely out for the season after suffering an Achilles tendon injury on Sunday. The Falcons' middle linebacker was replaced by Ike Reese after leaving the game in the third quarter. Hartwell finishes the season with 22 tackles in five games after signing with the Falcons in the offseason.

Hartwell has been ruled out of Friday's exhibition meeting with the Tennessee Titans, due to a hyperextended right knee, an injury suffered in last weekend's preseason win over the Baltimore Ravens. The linebacker, who inked a six-year, $26.25 million contract with the Falcons over the offseason, has not practiced this week and is listed as day-to-day.
