Correll Buckhalter

8/24/2005

Buckhalter will miss the entire 2005 season after having surgery on his right knee on Tuesday. He injured his knee during practice on August 5, but it was deemed a contusion to the knee at the time. After no healing occurred, he underwent more tests with Dr. James Andrews where it was discovered the that injury was a torn patellar tendon.

Buckhalter plans to return for another visit with Dr. James Andrews Monday for additional tests on his knee. Buckhalter said his right knee, repaired by Andrews a year ago, doesn't feel as if it's badly injured, but he can't get it feeling strong and stable. Buckhalter has been sidelined since taking a helmet to the knee early in camp. He visited Andrews last week and the surgeon found nothing structurally wrong.

Buckhalter has rejoined the Philadelphia Eagles after having his ailing right knee examined by specialist Dr. James Andrews. Already out a week, Buckhalter will receive treatment and rehab the knee over the next several days before being re-evaluated late next week. He is slated to serve as Brian Westbrook's backup this year, but Reno Mahe will fill that role for the time being.

Because of continued discomfort in his bruised right knee, Buckhalter will get a second opinion from specialist Dr. James Andrews within the next couple of days. The running back, who has been sidelined for nearly a week, missed the entire 2004 campaign after tearing the patella tendon in the same knee in a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Buckhalter continues to be bothered by soreness in his right knee, and he has been absent from the Eagles' workouts since last Friday. The team is being very cautious with the running back, who missed the entire 2004 campaign after tearing the patella tendon in his knee in a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. He is listed as day-to-day.

Buckhalter has been serving as the Eagles top tailback in training camp, as regular starter Brian Westbrook continues to hold out. However, Buckhalter was forced to leave Friday morning's practice early, due to soreness in his knee. The running back missed the entire 2004 campaign after tearing the patella tendon in his right knee in a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, so the team is going to be extra cautious.
