Still not fully recovered from arthroscopic surgery on his knee, Meier has been ruled out of Sunday's regular-season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The Saints' tight end, who had 25 catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns with the Tennessee Titans in 2004, hopes to return within the next couple of weeks.

Meier will miss most of training camp after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee earlier this week. The Saints' tight end should be back by the start of the regular season, barring any setbacks. He had 25 catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns with the Tennessee Titans in 2004.
