Kevan Barlow

12/28/2005

Barlow will miss Sunday's season finale against the Houston Texans after being placed on injured reserve by the San Francisco 49ers. The running back has been hobbled by a bruised left knee for more than a month, sitting out three of the team's last four contests. He finishes the year with 581 yards and three touchdowns on 176 carries, along with 31 catches for 241 yards in 12 games.

12/24/2005

Barlow was inactive for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Rams because of a left knee injury that has now cost him to miss three of the 49ers' last four games.

12/22/2005

After failing to practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday, Barlow now is considered doubtful for Saturday's matchup with the St. Louis Rams, according to the team's website. The running back has been battling a bruised left knee over the past month, forcing him to miss two of the Niners' last three games.

12/15/2005

Barlow has been downgraded to doubtful on the 49ers' injury report this week after failing to practice with the team on Wednesday. The running back has been battling a bruised left knee recently, which actually forced him to miss a Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He tried to play through the ailment last weekend, but picked up just 33 yards on 11 carries.

12/9/2005

After missing one game with a sore left knee, Barlow returned to practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, although he did not take part in the entire workout. The running back remains listed as questionable on the injury report, and it appears he will be a game-time decision.

12/6/2005

Barlow plans to test out his sore left knee at practice over the next couple of days, and the San Francisco 49ers are optimistic that he will be able to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. An MRI taken on the knee last Friday revealed no structural damage, but the running back was held out of the team's loss to the Cardinals as a precautionary measure.

12/4/2005

Barlow officially has been ruled out of Sunday's meeting with the Arizona Cardinals, due to the sore left knee that forced him to miss some practice time late in the week. With regular backup Frank Gore sidelined as well, the 49ers will look to Maurice Hicks to handle the bulk of the rushing load this weekend.

12/2/2005

Barlow did not practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday and was scheduled to undergo a precautionary MRI to determine the cause of the discomfort in his ailing left knee. The injury is not considered serious at this point, but the team has listed the running back as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, primarily due to the missed workout.

11/21/2005

Suffering his second concussion of the season, Barlow was unable to finish Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. The running back, who rushed for 21 yards on 12 carries and hauled in two passes for 17 yards prior to his departure, was replaced in the 49ers' backfield by Maurice Hicks. Regular backup Frank Gore was unavailable, due to a hip injury.

11/10/2005

Resting a minor quadriceps injury, Barlow did not practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday, and he has been listed as probable on this week's injury report. As long as he can return to the field within the next day or two and doesn't experience any major problems, the running back will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Chicago Bears.

10/31/2005

With backup Ken Dorsey under center in Sunday's 15-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Niners had trouble moving the ball via the pass, so they looked to Barlow to shoulder the majority of the offensive load. The running back responded to the call and recorded his first 100-yard game of the 2005 campaign, rushing for 101 yards on 26 carries. He also hauled in two passes for a team-high 21 yards.

10/24/2005

Barlow picked up 54 yards and scored a touchdown on 14 carries in Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins before leaving for good in the fourth quarter with a bruised quadriceps muscle. The 49ers will keep an eye on the running back over the next couple of days, but the injury is not considered serious at this point. His status will be updated later in the week.

10/10/2005

Barlow turned in his best performance of the 2005 campaign, falling just short of the century mark in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The 49ers' running back finished the game with 99 yards on 18 carries and also hauled in three passes for 29 yards.

9/20/2005

Barlow is averaging just 2.3 yards per carry through two games this season, but the 49ers do not plan to make a lineup change, according to head coach Mike Nolan. The running back has 56 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, as well as five catches for 48 yards.
