Tony Dixon
11/10/2005
Dixon's stay with the Dallas Cowboys was brief, as he was released by the club on Wednesday, just a week after signing a contract. The move was made to open a roster spot for linebacker Quentin Caver.

Dixon has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, filling the roster spot of running back Anthony Thomas, who was cut on Tuesday. In 16 games with the Cowboys last season, the safety notched 36 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles. He inked with the Washington Redskins over the summer, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

The Redskins signed Dixon on Saturday to a one-year deal that reportedly includes a base salary of $540,000. The free-agent safety has spent the past four seasons in Dallas after being selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2001 draft. He played in 56 games during those four seasons, logging 64 tackles, 13 assists, six sacks and an interception. Dixon also has considerable experience on special teams.
